I dont know how long the bike was sitting at whatever insurance lot it was sitting at...but if you EVER buy an insurance bike, promptly dismantle it to find out what is inside before attempting to start it....it may save you Thousands of dollars!
This bike is being fitted for a turbo, and while the CNC tech was near the shop, I figured he could come over and get a measurement on the Throttlebodies. I have already attempted to start the bike..but it wouldn't turn over (thank God). I HAD however turned the throttle at least once. When I pulled the airbox off...you see what fell out. It was about 1/3 full of acorns. There were a few resting on top of the #3 cylinder butterfly, and when I got those off and opened the butterfly, there are 3 more sitting down on top of the valves...NOT GOOD. Gotta get those out before I go any farthur. Granted, if they HAD fallen in, the chances of htem really harming somehting are slim to none..the cylinder would have made peanut butter, then burnt peanut butter, and it may have gotten on the exhaust valve or seat..but it most likely would have passed like yesterdays chili...loud and scary but not really long-term-harmful. Anyways, it's getting LOW temps here in KS tonight, so the garage is chock-full of vehicles, no more working on the S3 til after Xmas.
OHH...while the CNC tech was down, he saw that I had swapped out forks and offered to make me a set of custom tripple clamps...I have a set of 02 GSXR 1000 forks sitting around, so I'm going to attempt to get the new tripple clamp to house a 'zuki front end. PREEETTYYY.
