Default Oil Catch Can

I recently bought an 03 GSX-R 600 track bike but haven’t had much time to ride or work on it lately. Today I took off the seat and tail section and noticed the previous owner had made homemade oil catch cans. He used two plastic water bottles and some hoses. There was a small amount of oil in each bottle.

My question is has anyone made one of these themselves and how effective are they? Never used one on any of my other bikes.

its just over flow stuff, mainly for gas, radiator fluid, oil and some stuff i dont even know about. lol. but these overflow containers do work well and you should keep them so the overflow doesnt go into your bellypan and have a chance of escaping the bellypan and onto the track or your tires.

on the afm tech inspection checklist, overflow containers are on there.

i hope this answered your question.

Thanks, that's right on par with what I've heard from others. The bike was raced at Daytona in AMA Supersport this past March. I hear that having the catch bottles is a rule to run in AMA. I'll probably just leave them on.

I'm finally getting a chance to ride again this Sunday at Jennings. Can't wait!!
