Default Mounting my own tires.

Hey guys I have been mounting my own tires for a while now but.... I was wondering the lightest point marker for Michelins. I know that Pirellis have a red dot to line up with the valve. Anyone got an answer??

it's still best to balance them anyway. balancers are inexpensive anyway. you don't even need a stand for them if you buy one of these.

Allegedly the bar code marks the heaviest spot on the tire...but I have yet to see proof of that.

With Michelins, I gave up trying to find the light/heavy spot and just balance the damn thing.

can't speak for Cajun, but I started mounting and balancing my own to save $$$. It was costing me ~$30 a tire just for the mount and balance.

I don't generally buy tires trackside (although I should for the price)...and I take care of my street bike too.

I mount my own so that I don't have to mess with it in the morning before getting on track. I pick up my tires from sportbike trackgear rather than track side so I like to get them on before getting to the track.

if I'm at the track already I either go to the Michelin rep who does it for free or pay the track org 15 bucks a tire.

As far as the heavy spot .. I was told they stopped marking them because they are pretty evenly balanced these days. That may not be the case though.

edit; Also, it doesn't take much to build a balancer. A couple bearings and an axle rod and your golden.
