Thanks for the post, I think if more people went to actual race events they would see how awesome it is to watch and how freindly most racers are and willing to talk (as long as they are not busy with something or getting ready to go out and race).
Spectating an AMA Pro race event at Road America and then regularly attending regional road racing as a spectator at the local race track (Blackhawk Farms) is what led me into racing myself. I was always in awe watching racing in person, it's so much more intense than when it's shown on TV, the actual speed of the racing is probably the biggest thing not really captured on TV.
I personally encourage everyone to go and spectate a motorcycle road race (even if it's not Pro), it really is an awesome experience and generally a great show as well!
