Default Metzler Tire Pressures

I looked on Metzlers site for info along with emailing about using M3's on the track. I have done 3 days on 2 sets of them and I'm getting ready for another in October. I've been running about 31/31 and it has been alright. But Metzler both in email and brocure info said I should be using 32/36, that seems high from what I have heard for other tire companies. Anyone have any input?

When I took my 10R to the track with the M3's on it, I believe I was running 31F/30R. The tire manufacturer will give you street pressures and not track pressures. They want to make sure you don't run the tire to low that it causes an unsafe condition on the street.

+1

32/36 sounds like street pressures. Email them directly and ask what they recommend for TRACK pressures. It'll probably be closer to 30/30

I did email them and specificly asked for track pressures, and they gave me the brocure numbers.. Soo.. I was thinking they were high too, and even emailed back and they just refered me to the brocure again.

I guess I'll stick with my 31/31 since it hasn't done me wrong and I'm slow anyways

is 30/30 a general number for the track? I have the sport touring tires whatever they are. Just wondering since I've been running 28 32 or whatever the bike recommended.

30/30 is a general starting point on the track...for radial tires. That EX250 of yours will be running bias ply tires....unless you have found a set of radials in that odd ball size that is on the bike.

They're Metzler Lasertechs. The guy before me changed them. I had no idea it was bias ply though. I thought you only found those on total restoration cars. lol

Actually, they do recomment higher pressures for track as well in those tires. The thing to watch for will be cold tearing. So long as that is not an issue, th ehigher pressure will be fine and will not overheat the tires.

I know that the Corsa III's use a higher recommended pressure too.

Yeah, Metzler and Pirelli are the same company, so it's likely that they've got similar carcass construction and compounds.

Like meanstrk said, Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's require high track pressures (33F/35R), so it's possible that there's a Metzler tire that requires similar pressures.

If you can find out whether your Metzlers use the same carcass as the Corsa III's, then the recommended pressures might make more sense.

When I won a set of M3's I asked the company that provided them to me which track pressures to run and they quoted me 32/34. They said you could go 32/32 but you gotta be running the tires to the jagged edge to notice.

Metzeler gave me some a line about not giving track pressures for street tires when I tried to get the info from them. I personally run 32/32 with them and haven't had any cold tearing and they've held up fine for my pace.
