Just some friendly advice and you can feel free to take it or leave it (I'm always apprehensive about giving advice here since it offends people who are not open to constructive criticism), but dragging pegs means you aren't hanging off enough. Try getting your butt off the seat some more and putting your shoulders/head into the turn. This will eliminate the dragging and allow more lean angle. As you get more experienced the extra lean angle will mean faster lap times. Occasionally I will still drag a peg and it alerts me that I am not getting off the bike enough.

My brother was wearning out toe sliders like crazy (he's new as of this year), and after he figured out that he needed to get his butt off more and put his upper body into the turn he was much faster and much smoother. Have fun dude

+1

it can also mean you're not turning in quick enough or getting on the gas soon enough.

Your lower body looks good, but your torso needs to match it a little more.

Or it could be that your suspension could use servicing... it could be an issue w/ that cuz your body postition doesn't look all that bad.

Any one or a combination of those things can result in you dragging a peg.... so there's a few things to think about next time out

oh no i can take advice in thats how you learn. But i guess wat you guys are saying is i should bring out my upper body more to be aligned with my ass. I have a 98 gsxr750 and i thought it would keep up a bit and i cant even stay with the groupe but im in 6th gear

Yes, you want to keep your spine more parallel to the vertical centerline of the bike.

Personally, I'm a strong supporter of the "start small & work your way up" philosophy.... if this is your first track bike you don't even belong on a 750... but that's just me.

Learning has nothing to do w/ "keeping up" and everything to do w/ honing your skills. Anyone can "keep up" if you give em a bike w/ enough power, it's the cornerspeed that matters.

trust me, the lightweights (SV650 & under) are much better learning tools for getting accustomed to pushing a bike's limit. Everyone says "start small" when you begin riding on the street, well the same goes for riding on the track, maybe even more so than the street since you're learning to ride a bike near the limit.

If you have the option I strongly suggest you get something lighter w/ less motor. You'll be much better off in the long run.

Just some helpful advice... take it or leave it. Feel free to click the "My Resume" link in my sig to see where i'm coming from.

Do you have rearsets on that thing? The stock peg locations will drag much sooner, I've had that issue on all my GSXR's. The pegs on my '96 GSXR 750 were the stock 'fold-up' pegs in the stock location the entire time I raced it, I constantly had to weld up the ends of the pegs because they got ground down so bad (that was back in the late 90's when I was running as a Top 5 finishing Expert in the Heavyweight and Unlimited classes).

The other thing could be suspension, if your springs are not correct for your weight that can cause the pegs to drag as well.

Great pic

Did you do your track day with TPM? I'd love to get to Calabogie

Okay, so the body position thing...you definitely wanna get your backside off the seat even more, but, you also wanna put your head where the mirror would be! This will keep your body and spine in harmony as well as help you to stop draggin your peg. Also, think spaghetti arms, nice and relaxed!

Looking forward to future pics
