I didn't see a MotoGP section or thread or anything. So figured I would start one.

Any thoughts on Capirossi leaving Ducati?

Dunlop leaving MotoGP?

My thoughts.

Casey Stoner will make a name for himself this year with the new 800cc bikes. Jorge Lorenzo moves out of the 250cc and up to the 800cc and Casey Stoner will no longer be remembered because it will be Rossi and Lorenzo duking it out.

Oh...Nicky who?!?!

Is it Capirossi leaving or Ducati getting a better rider in Melandri?

Dunlop leaving, good for the teams that use their uncompetitive tires.

The real question is why do people have such a problem with Nicky? He's a genuine guy and a hell of a racer. Nicky deserves the title of World Champion.

I think Nicky is a good rider, but it's questionable whether he won last years GP due to skill or luck.

I think it's a shame if Dunlop leaves. They have potential to outshine the others due to the new rules that work in their favor.

MotoGp is suffering from the lack of sponsorship money. I'm afraid it will become a thing of the past. I'm thinking the big 5 are going to put their efforts into SBK.

it takes luck to win a championship... it takes luck, skill, a bike, a team & a shitload of other things.

I was almost a shoe-in for an Amateur championship this year but I was involved in a crash during the first race weekend that put me on the sidelines for 3 months. The guy who's probably gonna win that championship is the same guy that hit me that first race weekend. That guy is also my teammate.

Does that make him any less of a rider or any less of an Amateur Champion should he win it? Nope. It just makes me unlucky.

Nicky had luck on his side... as well as skill, a bike, a team, etc etc etc. He got the win because at the end of the year he had the most championship points. PERIOD. Anyone that wants to take that away from him should try sitting on the sidelines for 3 months while your competators battle it out and earn championship points while you're sitting there watching w/ your arm in a sling and a bunch of titanium in your wrist.

It doesn't matter HOW Nicky got it, luck or skill, he deserved it. Just like my teammate does. Good luck, Clayton.

Dunlop is a MotoGP tire.. I didn't know that. I thought it was just Bridgestone, and Michelin. Thats probably why Dunlop is getting out of MotoGP. Plus does anyone even use them?

Isn't Capirossi going Kawi?

Nicky is a 1 hit wonder, he got the AMA Supersport championship ONCE, he got the AMA Superbike championship ONCE, and he got the MotoGP championship ONCE (because Rossi dropped it and Nicky was luckily close enough to pick it up before Rossi could snatch it back). Thruout Nicky's entire Pro motorcycle roadracing career he's never been able to back up a single championship EVER! I think it would be a safe bet that he won't be changing that trend anytime in the near future either.

I'm certainly not saying Nicky doesn't have talent, he does, but after a decade worth of Pro roadracing he still obviously doesn't have what it takes to defend a championship title!

Mike, Nicky didn't have a chance to defend his Superbike title because he went to MotoGP the next year.

+1 I agree. The GP title is his fair and square. I just am saying that I believe it was more luck than skill on his side.

Capi going to Kawi is speculation at this point and no one has announced anything official. But thats what the rumors are, he was offered a ride on the Pramac Ducati team but turned it down it seems.

Default Nicky is not a one hit wonder in gp.....

They changed the bike so he had no chance to defend his title on the same bike. This years bike for sure was built for pedroacha and not nicky. And if my math is correct he has won 3 championships and that is pretty impressive.
football teams can win 2 or 3 in a decade and they call it a dynasty. Rossi's efforts show what a dominant rider and he was riding the same bike for years
gp not honda or yamaha. So next year when nicky is teamed with rossi at yamaha we will see how they do. Yes its my early prediction we shall see if it is right....???
