Since I have my Alpine's the stock, rubber piece covered stock pegs...suck.
I've already taken the rubber part off, but should I put dirt bike like cleated pegs on, or?

We have OSF (one second faster) brand rearsets on both bikes, fully adjustable, they crash well, and are relatively inexpensive. Can't go wrong with Woodcraft either. Stay away from Pro-tek, the set I had were done after one lowside. They weren't designed as well as the others in regards to being able to put replacement parts on them.

Do these require rearsets?
May sound dumb...but hell...I am.

I think Mantis thought you were talking about rearsets. Honestly, im not sure what is out there for just pegs.
I would get some rearsets..but when I put my Opp Carbon Tail on...I lowered the seat height from stock about3 inches...and my legs can't take anymore cramping.
I can always get a recommend...or just go wrench something off a dirt bike.
Small..nice cleats, and don't have to slide your foot sideways to reach shifter and brake...just move some toes...

Im not sure dirtbike ones would work. They might be a little too big. But again, i prolly do not know what I am talking about. Even if they would fit, how would you attach them? Im sure the mounting is different.

Actually the middle pin and cotter pin are the same design...though street bikes tend to have heavier, thicker pins.
Nothing a drill and some spacers could not fix in about...2 minutes.
Dirt bike pegs are smaller, they don't have any luxury, cumbersome, bullshit like rubber covers the size of Cadillac running boards.
All function baby.

Adjustable rearsets, check and see if Vortex makes them for your bike.

If you are just looking for pegs, shit get anything. I misunderstood and thought you were talking about rearsets. I think you can find pegs pretty cheap on ebay. The nice thing about a good set of rearsets is that you can adjust them so you are comfortable. Mine have somewhere around 2 inches of adjustability, although I prefer them as high up as possible.
I've got Woodcraft rearsets, definitely good quality. The Wood's are very fast motorcycle racers themselves, they make their stuff based on knowledge they gain by using their products themselves in actual race conditions - made by racers for racers is a cool concept I really like.
I know that for my GSXR their race pegs will fit on the stock footpeg mounts, but I have the entire rearset assemblies myself. In my case the pegs are hollow round tubes with a heavily knurled traction surface around the outside, the cool thing is that as the knurls wear down over time you can rotate the peg 180* and now the worn part is on the bottom, so it's like having a spare set of pegs with you all the time. Potentially you could use one side when your riding on the street then rotate them if you need better traction when at the track since it's so easy to do.

What you just read is my opinion and is based on my experiences and the info I have acquired during my life, it's my interpretation and isn't written in stone. Yes, I post long responses regularly because I like to fully explain my views. Don't like it or agree with what I have to say? Then don't read it or respond to it! Respond like an immature idiot to posts of mine and I will just ignore you. Have a nice day.
I have to disagree. Dirt bike pegs are much wider and just as long as the ones on my bike. Maybe yours are different.
I'm talking about 2 stroke dirt bikes...80's 90's style pegs..
They are about 3.5 inches long, if that, and have a taper from about 2 inches thick where they connect, down to one inch at the end. They have small
cleats molded into the cast which was aluminum usually.
Maybe the new 4 strokes have snowshoes for pegs, I haven't noticed or looked
carefully at a dirt bike for years, other than the fact that they sure are skinny
nowadays.

Actually, the passenger pegs I pulled off my bike would be ideal, but the
diameter of the holding pin...well...would require some fabrication and I am
not sure how stable they would be over the long haul.
Don't want them moving/wobbling 'round.
