Ohhh man... been a long time comin.
Back on April 29th I was involved in a collision on the track (while LEADING the race, mind you

) in which i suffered a... uhh.. "not so mildly broken wrist".... It ended up taking a big ole titanium plate & 6 screws to put me back together... and that's only cuz i got lucky & didn't end up needing TWO plates & EIGHT screws.
So flash forward - it's been 10 weeks since the surgery now & it's slowly getting better.... far from 100% & I know for certain it'll never be normal again, but it's getting better at least. Anyway, this past Thursday I finally got back on the track at a Tony's Track Day event at NHIS
I spent the day working w/ the beginner group helping out the newbies, riding around w/ em, showing them the line, helping them w/ their technique, sitting in on the classroom sessions, all the fun stuff

I think the best part was being there for my friends Rob & Keira. They got married earlier this year & my wedding gift to them was two slots for a trackday of their choice... They watch all the time but had never been on the track themselves before, always wanted to go, it was just a question of money... they're broke. Needless to say they were ECSTATIC when I told em, damn near teared up they were so happy & surprised

So being there to help them out w/ everything was terriffic.
I was also able to put a few "hot" laps in to kinda test out the wrist & it did... well, it
alright... I wasn't jumping for joy w/ how it felt, but I was able to do some laps at 90-95% and it didn't bother me TOO too much. Good enough that I think I'll be able to do once race this coming weekend, but not my usual 4.
It's a huge bummer that I lost my shot at an Amateur Championship this year the way I did and I absolutely hate thinking this.... but I may be forced to retire early from racing (and possibly off-road riding, too

).... but on the upside I'm just glad to be back on the bike again, out on the track & in a position where I can still help other riders.
