There is a for sale section of the site so you could check that out.

Have you tried ebay or searched google? That would be a good place to start.

There's quite a difference between the plastic 'stock' bodywork, and the aftermarket fiberglass bodywork that most racers use. The OEM stuff is usually REALLY expensive and may not be very repairable after a crash. The aftermarket fiberglass bodywork is all over the place in quality and price, but generally the better stuff can be easily repaired after a crash. The big thing with fiberglass bodywork is flexibility and if it has a 'gelcoat' over the top of it. Fiberglass bodywork that isn't flexible may look good, but it's survivability in a crash can be questionable at best. Gelcoats are used for various reasons, a major one is to smooth out the surface to make it prettier for paint. Gelcoat can get really ugly after a crash and spiderweb really bad, but it's highly dependant on how flexible it was. I personally really like 'Sharkskinz', the bodywork I bought from them in the past was quite flexible, durable when crashed, and easily repaired - but they are also 1 of the more expensive brands out there (you get what you pay for in their case). Be careful of inexpensive offerings by some of the manufacturers that may sell good quality bodywork, some of them are actually importing 'economy' versions of their bodywork from other countries. I currently have a set of the Airtech 'Greyline' bodywork on my GSXR because when I bought it I was short on cash and this bodywork was almost 1/2 the cost of the "Made in the USA" Sharkskinz bodywork, but I can tell by it's lack of flexibility that if I ever crash it the stuff will probably break instead of flex. Honestly I regret having gone the cheap route this time, I should have spent the money and bought the good stuff since this stuff is cracking in places.

Nothing personal Mike...and I know the short of cash feeling...

Air-Tech sucks...I know first hand.

They seem to make body work with the precision that someone else would make a beer can pull tab.

You'll be lucky not to spend a week getting the shit to even fit up right.

If...it ever does at all.

To the OP...

Spend the extra dough and get some quality Opp Racing...or everyone's favorite Sharkskinz.

I put on an Opp Racing Tail section in less than 90 minutes...flush...fit is good.

It's Carbon Fiber though...and if I crash...bits will fly.

Look at Hotbodies, Sharkskins, or Cheetah bodywork. I've used Sharkskins before on an old racebike and I liked it. I'm thinking of selling my bodywork off of my '06 GSX-R 1000. I will try Hotbodies this time around. I'm going to turn this bike into a trackday machine since my job won't allow me to race competitively.(not much spare time, deployments, etc) You can't exactly take a GSXR 1000 and jump into racing again. Bikes like mine are reserved for the expert classes. (I don't know, things may have changed since '00)

FYI, try to take some of the advice you get from some people here with a grain of salt... some guys think that they are really salty when they actually still have milk on their lips. I, myself, am no expert though. Where are you located?

What's wrong with your bike's bodywork? What are you planning on doing with your bike? If it's street riding, look for some used OEM bodywork. If it's for track, look for some flexible descent fitting bodywork. Fiberglass is okay, but it's not the most durable when it goes down, it doesn't always have a top notch fit, and it may not the lightest thing nowdays... it is the cheapest route though.

And as for carbon fiber... 'come on, seriously? It would be way too expensive for what you need, compared to what you can get for the money. If it's close to the price of a good flexible plastic... it's probably a low quality piece. I've never seen any serious club racers actually use carbon fiber on their bikes. You see WSB and MotoGP guys use it, but they have WSB and MotoGP budgets. If they crash it's no big deal. I wouldn't want to risk running it. It sure looks cool though.

I want these qualities in bodywork: Good fitment, flexibility, affordability, lightness, and quality. I go by name brands that I've heard good things about and from what I've seen others use with my own eyes. If I've never heard of the company... I'm sceptical of it. When I buy race bodywork for my bike, I probably won't paint it. True enthusiast don't really care about vanity I've noticed.

we need the set of fairings for a custom 1000 project we're working on. I would definitely prefer to get some nice OEM ones, but usually people try and charge SOOO much for them its not worth it. What color are yours, and what cha want for them? We are in central MARYLAND

I don't know if you were referring to me...

But...if you were...

I just got a Carbon Fiber piece...tail section...and according to a guy who has been around fabricated aircraft...for years...it's a decent piece of work.

Was twice the price of the standard fiberglass...of which they were out of.

(Not surprising...given my bike is a bit on the older side. People snapped up the cheap shit...left the high dollar shit to rot on a shelf.)

They said it would be up to 10 weeks to fabricate a piece of glass based body work for my bike.

So I paid extra got something cool. My money...and I was damned tired of looking at the fucking garbage air-tech sent me...fucking shit was lopsided.

I still haven't decided how I am going to fuck that company up.

As far as Shark, Cheetah...etc.

They never had any pics of their finished product for my bike.

Just little drawings...and the pics I have seen of the Shark RFV tail look like shit....imo.

Anyway...hope I don't wreck...but if I do...I'll get another one...

I'm going to get a new/decent car soon...and a trailer...and just use my CBR for Track Days...not a bad track day bike.

<------ They are that color mang, who did you think was in my avatar? ... that's me and my bike on the Streets of Willow Springs. I've got red electrical tape over my headlight. I don't put up pics of other people on bikes as my avatar. I don't want to get these things scratched up. That's why I want to buy a set of Hotbodies bodywork for it.

What kind of project are you working on?
