Default Racer type dudes: What kind of seat?

I am about to put on a Opps Racing Race Tail...the one that requires the dense cell foam or ____.

As seen here...
http://www.oppracing.com/products.ph..._id=43#image_1

I'm wondering about the seat....

Should I just use a flat piece of about 2 inch dense cell, or maybe some of the stock foam,
cut the original and cover that or...?

What do you Track Day stars and racers use?

Thanks for any ideas...

they sell square foam pads (1/2" and 3/4") for these seats, they have adhesive backing and are really easy to install

i got mine from the teampromotion parts club (http://www.teampromotion.com) for $25.00

I'll close my own thread by saying a few words.

Not foam...but layers of soft rubber...like mouse pads.

(Not going to use mouse pads...but you get the idea...

Easier to cut and shape...and no pan or cover needed.

Just a little aside, and somewhat off topic...but one big reason for using foam seat padding is so you can get better feel from your bike.

However, a little tip I learned was that you can get that same feel from buying solid-mounted non-rubber padded footpegs. Racing boots have thin hard soles just so the rider can get better feel from their bike.

I've always used the stock seats on all 3 of my GSXR racebikes over the last decade.

Dense foam...

JoAnn's "dense foam" only looks good if you want to cover it with leather or vinyl.

Plus the stuff is not even dense...more like pillow filler.

Junk.

A mouse pad...is made from real dense foam...won't absorb water.

I have been looking for a good seat material, that is cheap...easy to precisely

cut...requires no covering...stapling etc....and works well with carbon fiber.

I think I found it.

Some excercise mat, forget the name,...about 6 x 6 feet of it...very high density foam...and...

$18.99.

The only drawback is that it's blue.

But that can be painted...as it won't absorb the paint.

Have looked at custom gel pads...seats...but for me they all slope the worng way.

As they go towards the tank...they go up...

I think it feels and performs better when the rear is higher...and theoretically as you

brake for a turn...you'll move to the lowest and most center of the bike...better for turns.

Theoretically...

Now I just have to figure out a non-damaging but very adhesive glue to slap it on there.

Comments...suggestions?

not too many people use "superbike" tail sections for trackdays or even racing. Its much easier to use one that keeps the stock seat if they make one for your bike.
hell I don't know anybody I race with off the top of my head that uses one of those tails, just makes life more difficult than it has to be for virtually no gain at all

What Woody said!

I used the stock seat too. My plastics came with a superbike tail even though I ordered a superstock tail. I didn't have time to send it back and forth before a race so I just cut the opening for the stock seat and it works fine for me. Didn't cost me a penny either.

Anyway...got the seat...tail...and light thing all done.
Looks bad ass if I do say so myself.

And...I dragged a knee just a bit...wee little bit because it sits a bit lower.

I know an AMA champ like yourself will not be impressed...but...then again...I don' t give a fuck.
