Default Learning to glide...

Since I learned that leaning/hanging off is not for just keeping the bike on the track when

you are carrying so much speed that your weight pulling the bike back towards the inside

of the track, is sometimes the only thing keeping you from running off the outside of the track, but is actually

also meant to actually lean the bike, not as sharply keeping more tire ON the

tarmac, and the exhaust, pegs, and any hard bits OFF the tarmac, I've been practicing hanging

off on some decent backroads.

But...

Sincerely, I always thought hanging off was a last resort to not running too wide

because of so much speed, and that racers simply did it because they were always

running right at the edge of both their's and the bike's capabilities. That's just where they

lived, so to speak...and they had the balls and skills to do it lap after lap.

But...it's not all about having the biggest set..in fact mostly not at all...

I didn't know it was a method used for the whole spectrum of track riding or racing. No one ever told me, so obviously...no genius here.

Anyhoo...I have found that the bike feels better, lighter, and my entry, mid-corner, and

of course then exit speeds are higher when I am not only hanging off to the side, but also

hanging a bit forward on the bike...head just further forward than the gas cap or more.

And also, making sure my chest is parallel to the geometry of the bike.

And to keep as light a touch as possible, meaning as little arm and chest weight

off the bars as possible. This is totally alien to me, but already feels much better,

and I can see the benefits, and more importantly feel more of the potential for outright

smoothness and speed.

It's like really flying it's so cool...

I'm having a friend take some pics this weekend, weather permitting,

...so I can take a look at my form.

Maybe some of you guys can critique a bit...

Am I making any sense at all here? :hmmm
