I'm not gonna laugh; I've been off in that EXACT spot. That fuckn' corner is very deceiving. It is a decreasing left hander right after a high speed up hill double apex. If you are hauling any kind of ass it is easy to go off right there if you turn in too soon. Trust me......

I'll even go first. Here's me back in 2004 at VIR North. Spun up the rear coming out of turn 17 back onto the front straight (hit the bumps, suspension wasn't set up properly at the time) which put me into a tank slapper & I went off course before I could get things settled & change direction and stay on track. Once I went off course I went down & slid about 150 yards in the slick Virginia Mud (that clay gets super slippery after a thunderstorm).
