On The TrackHad a trackday, a good or bad day at the track? Want to get started racing? Just like racing? Cmon insde and post questions, results or comments.
Like it says. I'm taking towels/washcloths to soak in water to help cool down? Anything else, especially when riding? My trackday is this wednesday, and it is supposed to be almost 100 outside.
If you leathers have adequate ventalation (and room) try soaking a light weight t shirt in water and wearing it underneath the leathers. It will help until the t shirt dries out.

Good idea.
Here is what I was planning on wearing underneath - compression shirt and pants - they do a pretty good job of absorbing sweat and letting it evap once you are in motion. My leathers do have perforations in them.
I was considering using a bandana soaked in water and kind of tucked around my neck inside my leathers - not sure if that will be OK or not.
I wear a mesh undersuit and soak it with water. Then when I put my leathers on I dump a bottle of water down the front and back. Keeps me cool at least until after the start of the race. After that there isn't much you can do besides having perf. leathers.

Bananas or potassium pills for potassium.
A little salt or Gatoraid style drinks to keep you in balance
Soak a towel in an ice chest, and drape it over over your neck or over your whole head.
Put ice cubes in your UnderArmour long sleeved shirt, one on each wrist and one at the elbow.
Use fans in the pits to keep a breeze blowing.
Drink plenty of water starting NOW, a couple of days before.
I took a shower with all my clothes on at lunch time at Blackhawk this Saturday.
Make sure you keep snacking all day, even if you don't particularly feel hungry. Grapes, Fig Newtons, and Bananas are great. Some trail mix too. You won't feel that hungry, even though your body is burning calories like mad. You need to eat.
Keep pouring water on your self and keep your shirt wet.
If you need to work on your bike, get a stool. And take off your leathers when you can. Don't try to kneel in your hot leathers. When you stand up, you can get a pretty good headrush.
Vented helmets help some.
This weekend, I was thinking of everything that I could to stay hydrated and safe. I used all those ideas.

If it's extremely hot, you may want to consider potassium tablets.
Drink water, but don't over hydrate. You can actually die from drinking too much water. Here's the bitch part, it looks just like dehydration, so chances are they will be giving you water.
A soaked undersuit is good too. I personally drink water, don't drink pop, eat a few bananas the night before (potassium against cramping, but it takes a while to feed into your system from bananas. Eating them trackside does dick-ola), ice or a cooler filled with a few ice packs.
Also, Spidi makes a suit that has a water pac in the back that. That would be your best bet, if you've got the bucks.
