Default Traction control now legal in AMA

What's the feeling on this?

I am not surprised that they legalized it in Superbike. This has been coming since WSB teams started using it. What I am surprised about is limited traction control in Supersport and Superstock.

I had a conversation with a person who is deeply involved with AMA pro racing and his take on it was "Why cater to privateer? We are a professional road racing organization and the teams should be professional." This may be a step in that direction.

I actually think this is a precursor to traction control on production bikes and the manufacturers are greasing the skids.

Who knows? What's your take on this?

I personally think it makes the racing less fun to watch.

I guess Yoshimura Suzuki can finally explain their mysteriously sputtering corner exits.

That's just bad tuning.

I personally think we'll see traction control on the new GSXR1000, coming next year and maybe the R1. I have knowledge of a new GSXR coming out next year and there have been a ton of pics of the 07 R1 circulating the web.

I don't know, MotoGP has been great this year. Last week's finish was one of the best I've seen in a while.

I'll agree it's been a good season to watch no doubt. Seeing Nicky sideways on the gas in those never ending left-handers was pretty awesome. But even last year there seemed to be alot of smoke pouring off the rear wheels of various riders.

Where's McCoy when you need some entertainment?

I do miss McCoy's sliding style, although the Ducatis still seem to smoke the hell out of them.

Nicky was sliding the thing well last week.

And you know, watching some of the F1 race this weekend it seams like the TC comes on all the time. It just ruins the driver/rider ability for keeping the vehicle in check IMO.

I don't know if TC will get that draconian on bikes because it would upset the hell out of the chassis if it just sapped the bike's drive. I'm not trying to be argumentative I just think a rider wouldn't be able to run fast laps if it was kicking in as much as it does on F1 cars.

I'm also kind of curious as to the effect on tires. Seeing as spinning up makes the tire run cooler.

Privateers win Superbike and FX races? Not any race I've ever seen.

All this does is level the field between the honest and dishonest factory teams.

Why do people want to fight every advance in technology?

I think it will make the gap wider between factory and privateer. If you have no chance of finishing in the top 15, would you run?

May thin the grids or up the costs of running. My friend runs an AMA team (Article on the front page), he's a mid level team, right below the factory teams. I wonder what effect it will have on those teams?

'Driver' assist this, 'driver' assist that. . .Pretty soon there will be robot racers. It takes skill to race, ofcourse, and every damn assist given to the 'driver' makes it less interesting. Speed is good, assistence in obtaining speed is crap.
