Did they re-do the track or something?
I watched a video of a lap there and it didn't look that great.

There's not anything on the Track Addix or MPH websites about the event not happening, I would call Track Addix and ask them since they have been very involved with the tracks development - giving advice and such.

I did call Dean and he was 95% sure it would be open for the races on the 6th of August. 2 weeks to pave, 3 weeks to cure. Gonna be close weather permitting.

So that answers the question that it won't be open for the July 7-8 track day then. I don't like the short cure time though, especially with it being a racing surface, sure hope it won't jeoprodize it's longevity. I've seen where a number of tracks did repaves at the end of the season so it could cure for 4-6 months before being raced on - at least with bikes being the 1st event they don't really risk damaging the tracks surface (cars are the ones who destroy racing surfaces due to their heavier weight and sheering action caused by them going around a corner).

i don't even think they have started laying the asphalt yet. land movers were out saturday when i drove by, but some barracades are up and the fence around the land has allthe poles in place. they need to get that dam shit LAID though. and i believe there is going to be a big event for cars at the end of july, so if it ain't cured then the track will suck for the track day.

Last time I heard they were scheduled to start dropping asphalt this week at dome point... I figured it would be pavement rather than asphalt for longevity but what do I know, I'm not the engineer. Asphalt on hot days with car gets pushed though, wouldn't it, shit even with bikes on 100*+ days I'ld think it woudl fudge a bit.

Update On Motorsports Park Hastings
I recieved an E-mail from Track Addix today that includes an update about the status of Hastings Motorsports Park, the following is from that E-mail:
**************************************************
(Tuesday July 11, 2006)
Some of you may have already noticed that the date of the Motorsports Park Hastings (MPH) race has been pushed back 1 week. The new date is August 12th and 13th.
The paving begins on Wednesday, and the paving company is saying it will take them only 8 days to complete the track and hot pit area. Add a couple of "fudge factor" days in there, and the track should be complete no later than July 22nd. Then they pave the paddock area and install the temporary buildings that will serve as registration, race control, and bathrooms/showers.
We felt the time table was getting too close for comfort for our event and that moving the event back 1 week would provide a little more "wiggle room" in case of unforeseen delays. Also, this should give the track 3 weeks of curing time before we get on it. Hopefully the Nebraska sun and torrential thunderstorms will bake and wash the oils out for us.
The entire town of Hastings is excited about the opening of this facility and we will have the distinction of being the first event held at MPH. There should be lots of news media coverage and spectators, so practice your interview skills and lets get a HUGE turnout for this GRAND OPENING!
For anyone that has already pre-registered for the MPH round, but is unable to attend the new date, please contact us for a complete refund of your entry.
**************************************************
Also mentioned in the E-mail is a change in the format to the CCS race weekends run by Track Addix in the Great Plaines Region which will have Saturdays as a track day available to everyone like a normal track day, but racers entered in races THAT WEEKEND will be able to practice Saturday for a discounted price. Track Day participants will also get a bonus by getting to spectate the (3) CCS 25 minute GT races at the end of the Track Day on Saturday (late afternoon) and return Sunday for free to spectate that days races as well. And for those of you non-racers in the Advanced group don't feel intimidated practicing with the racers, we've been told to play nice with the non-racers and give you some extra room as we pass.
Of course things could change, but as of July 11, 2006 the info in this post is what I know to be accurate.
Mike

Yeah, I got the same email. I'm actually registered for the trackday. Gonna catch it on my way back from visiting the folks. Kiss a new set of tires goodbye.

Well, The CCS event which was to be the grand opening for Motorsports Park Hastings, has been cancelled by Track Addix for reasons of the track not having adequate time to cure before we would be racing there. I light of the track surface problems encountered immediately after repaving at the USGP, and at Blackhawk Farms, I think it's in the best interest of the racing surface to give it more time to cure. The bad thing is that I fear now the 1st racers on it will be cars, hopefully they wait a little bit longer than just the week CCS gave up to let it cure longer!
