Default Experience before your 1st trackday?

Hello,

I'm currently saving up for my first track day. I have about a year of street riding experience (100% commuting). I'm just curious how much street experience would be recommended? I've wanted to do one since I first started riding, although I'm glad I at least waited a little bit.

I am not planning on going until later this year... Is that too soon? Or does it not matter? I don't mind being the slowest of the slow in the C group, but I'd like to be able to practice without worrying about running into a pole.

Thanks for any input.

^ yep. Im very much a beginner when it comes to the track. I still have an absolute blast.....

You may find that if you are a fairly experienced road rider, your pace quickly improves and you move up to medium anyway (like me). But the main aim is to have fun in a controlled environment and improve your skills.

Do it you'll love it.

Yeah the track isn't for those who know everything, it's often for those who don't. It's there to help you learn, not just something fun to do (though I'm sure it's a blast, I'm going to do one soon!).

Yep, pretty much what they all said. DO IT! Do it now or regret you didn't do it sooner!

I had lil experience before I decided to do a trackday. Actually, that's a big part of why I got into riding, not to cruise on the street and hang out at the local starbucks, I wanted to ride at the TRACK. Now I barely ride on the street.

If you're comfortable riding at freeway speeds, you should be fine in the C group. Just remember you are out there to have fun. Don't try to be the fastest one in the group. LEARN THE TRACK FIRST and concentrate on being SMOOTH.

All I'll to add is make sure you are comfortable getting the bike leaned over before you start on the track. I'm not saying dragging a knee or even getting rid of your chicken strips.

Just as long as you don't take corners standing straight up you'll be fine.
