On The TrackHad a trackday, a good or bad day at the track? Want to get started racing? Just like racing? Cmon insde and post questions, results or comments.
Its done! or pretty close .. I need to go around and loctite the stuff I dont want rattleing loose. Also waiting on my NPG coolant to swap out and then it is ready for the track. I'm pretty happy with it all in all ...
i'm tempted to stop by and check it out in person. i'll be in town next week. but i kinda smell- so if you don't want me over there i understand. I'd take you out for a beer... but maybe next month
post up some before pics, though- i curious as to how much work you had to do.

I'm really pised at myself because I didn't take any good before pics. It had most of the fairings partially intact and I was too impatient to take pictures before I stripped it down =/ ... here is what I have though:
Don't be fooled by the $800, it wasnt cheap; it needed bodywork, a rear wheel, rear sub frame, seat, gas tank, chain kit (old chain was completely rusted), fairing stay, windscreen, caliper seals.. and then I had to get spools, frame sliders, npg coolant (not here yet), rearset risers, a damper and I'm gonna get gauges as soon a I find some for a reasonable price.
and since I'm addicted, I am also going to get an APE cam chain tensioner, K&N, probably a high mount exhaust, pc3 ... sky is the limit. Actually cashflow is the limit. I went around tonight and loctited everything I didnt want to come loose, and I will wire up everything that needs to be soon. Gotta swap the coolant out when it gets here and then its all set.
Total, I'm at about 3 grand counting the cost of the bike... which is still a pretty good deal for a clear title race bike and it was fun to build up. Also, I'm pretty sure it has very few miles on it because everything inside looked about perfect ...
First race weekend is april 21st-23rd at Road America, so I'm bouncing off the walls waiting to go.
So anyways, are you gonna have a bike when you are in town ?
edit; forgot that the last thing I need to do is tune the suspension ... I really have no idea where to start or even where it is set at.
Wow! That really looks like a proper track bike now. Great job!
Just this thought; you might want to consider some case covers for the engine. If you happen to... wait, if your bike happens to low-side at some point those stock covers will probably fail and end your day.

ha! i wish.... i dont have a bike at all right now. Well, i have a heap of parts in my buddy's garage... but that's about it.
i get to take over my parents garage for painting when i come home for easter, though (which will hopefully be tomorrow night....)
man, my dad is gonna be happy about that.... but i painted the whole garage and put down the epoxy floor... and bought him his compressor, so i dont think he has much room to complain.
but what's it matter anyways- it snowed yesterday from what i hear.... it was 70 and sunny here, if it makes you feel better
sucka!

It did snow .. which was ridiculous but it is gone and sunny again ...
only problem is when michigan gets a 1/4 inch of snow, we get a foot of salt, so now the roads are crap again.
As far as the case gaurds .. I supposed that is a good idea. With the frame sliders it makes it a lot more difficult to hit them on the track surface, but then I've seen some weird stuff happen ...
rear pegs are off ... I actually spent like a half hour dremeling and angle grinding the peg mounts off the right side .. so now it just looks like a exhaust hanger ...
As for the spools, they are weld-on spool adapters from pit-bull. I love them I hated lifting from the swing arm because it slid all over the place. I got them on my f4 and they were my first addition to the f4i. I think like 15 for the adapters and 15 to have it welded on.

Sweet addition.. I need to add the spools to my F4...
Another question about the spool adapters: Which ones did you get? (Aluminum/steel?) I guess the more appropriate questions is, what is the swingarm made of? Also, where is the best place to position the adapters on the swingarm?
I just got stands, but realized I have no place to mount the spools on to.
