Anybody done Nashville Superspeedway lately?
Nascar oval combined with infield twisties?
Good ride or dangerous?
New pavement in infield? Or just patched up?
STT has it Aug. 18-19, but I'm not sure about the track.
Looks like a Nascar track to me, from Google and photos.
Thanks
I'm suppose to be headed down there on Aug 18 to check it out. There are some videos on STT forum you can check out. If you don't come to that one I can report back to ya. I heard it's pretty highspeed, but that could be only hearsay...
I ran it a couple of months ago in Wera. The front and back straights are the only part of the speedway/nascar section you will use. Everything else is the infield. BE CAREFUL going off and on, on the front straights. The surface elevations is so different it's a little scary at first. Coming out of the last turn and hitting the front straight at 100 + mph will jar the hell out of you. I hit the chinbar of my helmet on the gas tank just about everytime going over that section.
Don't worry about the banking of the front straight when you are on it, you won't notice the banking at 150mph anyways. You can carry some pretty good speed coming off the front straight as the 1st turn is kind of a sweeping turn, goes straight for a sec and then it is a 180* left hander, short straight and a 180* right hander, short straight, a left then right short chicane that climbs a little bit and then a left onto the back straight then you diver into another short chicane that is a left then right and drops off a short hill and a short straight then another short chicane that climbs again right then left and then a sweeping left and back onto the front straight.
Pretty good ride just take your time at first. When you going? I attached the track view and follow the yellow line for the route the track will run.

I hear you on that. An x-WERA racer told me that also. He said it would bottom his forks getting on and off the oval.

Thanks for the map with the yellow line. Looks like you will be doing a little braking on that sweeper. The left-hander looks like 2nd gear, if not 1st.

Thanks for the details, Will.
Sorry I couldn't stay at the Dragon. The weekend did not work out for me.
Maybe catch the Fall ride, if it works out, or the SBN Track Day, if that happens.
BTW, STT will discount for a group to ride in a regularly scheduled STT Track Day. I don't know if you guys have already covered that or not.
That will be fun! It will be good to see you again.
Which track do you like?
I actually haven't done a track day yet, but I figure I'll be ready by next year. I would say I'd like to do one closer to the end of this year but with the little one on the way, I just don't think I'll have time. It'll give me more time to figure out which track to go to anyways. Keep me updated as to when and where your going.

That transition jarred me so bad a couple of times I had to swallow to get my nads out of my throat
Other than the straights, that track is pretty much a 2nd gear track. For me, 1st was too low as kept having to switch to second trying to come out of the corners. 2nd gear does pretty good especially if you are carrying some good speed into the corners and you can scream out of the corners a little bit better than having to shift from 1st to 2nd or waiting for your bike to catch up if you are 3rd gear. On the sweepers you could probably get away with just rolling off the gas a tad because you will be right back on the gas coming out. Several blow the turn going into the 180* left hander and have to blow thru and get docked for it.
Hell I might be there for the August dates! I don't have a race that month and the track is only an hour away so I have been thinking about going to it.
We are thinking of trying to get on with STT and doing a day or weekend at Barber

I would definitely want to be in for that.
STT is doing Barber this weekend but I could not go. I just can't handle two weekends in a row and I had a great time in the Novice group at Talladega last weekend.
STT has Barber on September 8-9. That could be it. Discounts at Barber could really make a difference because that is an expensive track. Hope it works out. If I can help with it give me a holler.
