First of all, I have to say this. Ive never had so much fun on my bike ever since I started riding last June. This was the bestest of bestest !! T
To break down the day :
1st session - Just rode slowly and steadily about 3/4ths of the session. Had a hard time getting around this gixxer that would slow down in the turns and pull away in the straights. Followed him that way for like 4 frustrating laps, since I dint really know if I could get around him and be able to control my bike.Kept it in 6th gear throughout and downshifted to 5th only for turn 10.Out of habit,I kept tapping my breaks and looking at where my mirrors would be, before entering the corners. . End of session 1
2nd Session - Started picking up the pace slightly. Got the nerve to pass people while they were slowing down for the turns. Once I started doing that I got comfortable and VOLA ! it happened. My first time I felt my knee dragging. And then it happened lap after lap. My knee developed a happy friendship with turn 13, and everytime I went through that corner, they would meet ;). The same with turn 9. For some reason I was dragging my right knee more than my left. I must have dragged my left knee like 4 times, even though I dragged my left peg over 30 times. Something was definitely wrong there. When I got to the pits, I was showing my devirginized knee pucks to everyone I saw.just like a small kid showing off his new toys. I was overwhelmed with lots happiness and excitement for some reason !.
3rd Session - A runoff the track, which my buddy caught on his onboard cam. I down shifted two gears too much before entering turn 1, and when I let out the clutch, the back wobbled hard and so I chose to ride it out. Got back onto the track immediately. The 3rd session was bad. I was one of the first few to see one of my buddies laying on the ground motionless in turn 10. My heart just sank. I couldn't think properly anymore. Somehow I felt drained of all the enthusiasm I had.He was ok though. Suffered memory loss for a few hours.
4th session - I still was doing what I did all day: Riding the 1st lap slow, plus I still dint feel I had that enthusiasm, until I went around 13 again !. Rode like a Maniac after that. I think it was turns 13,3 (or 4) that I was really having a blast on, since I was really hangin off the bike and blasting throught those fast turns..
5th Session - Had a good duel with this gixxer. Followed closely for 1 lap, before I overtook him on the outside in turn 1 ( Illegal turn in novice class!). My only illegal overtaking of the day. . Relaxed for the rest of the session but decided to get squidly the last 2 laps when I oticed Emjay with his video cam near the fence at turn 13.Not too many riders on the track many on the last session of the day Came through there the first time with my left hand waving. The second time I was dragging my right fingers.( Ouch !). Ill post the videos once I get them from him
One leisurely one handed ride around the lap waving to all the corner workers and into the pits. !
And that was the end of my first trackday... It was a blast. Those who havent done it, definitely should !

I can only agree to that statement, I gave up riding on the street a long time ago and only make "guest" appearances once in awhile.
You will be a better rider for it regardlessly though!!!! I hope you keep enjoying it and learn more every time you go out!!

RacerX, towards the end of the day I had the same exact feeling. I had decided not to ride aggressively on the streets anymore, since I found a safer place to quench my need for aggressiveness. I know I cant do it as often as I would like, but Id rather wait for it, than be wedged in a guard rail !.

That's awesome! Jennings sure is a great track, it's where I did my first track day as well. Welcome to the addiction....it gets real expensive from here on out!

+1, I agree with Racer X, hey blazen do you still have the little bolt extensions on the bottom of you foot pegs on, it kinda looks like it in your first pic, try taking those off for some more ground clearance.......AND WELCOME TO YOUR NEW DRUG.
