Default Need some qualified suspension advice

I'm a regular in the FZ6 forum, and I need to get some expert advice on what to do about a suspension issue that's looming with spring just 57 days away. I've ridden for the past two seasons with STT in Michigan on a '00 R6.

Long story short, now I have an '04 FZ6. I love the 600's, but need something I can also take on long trips, thus the FZ6 was a logical choice for me. Something I can have fun with at the track, but also a comfortable choice for 1000 mile weeks, ya know? Enter my dilemma, front suspension is non-adjustable (yes, I knew that when I bought it). I have to replace the springs and valves (I think). I need to get it as dialed in as possible since there will be no adjustment after changes are made. I've purchased lowered handlebars, new tires, new exhaust, HH brake pads, all I need is to make the front end perform and I'm done spending money.

Anybody who knows suspension!! What would you do? Advice is greatly appreciated (it's good karma).

Well if you read the FZ6 forum like a good owner should You would see theres a bunch of people putting R6 forks on their bikes.... and it seems pretty straightforward... check it out, might be just what the doctor ordered!

NOT straight forward my man. It involves quite a bit of "shimming" (ie, they don't really fit), also mutilation of the fender, new brakes, new brake lines, and oh yes....being able to find 03-04 R6 forks in perfect condition on EBAY. Any set of forks you see are from a bike that has been wrecked. In my book, you don't know what you're going to end up with.

You're right, seeing as I don't have a FZ6 I didn't read through it enough. You can get fork springs that are setup for your weight (traxxion dynamics, race tech, etc.)

Look into a Gold Valve kit (w/emulators) from Race Tech. You may also want to replace the OEM springs with one a wee bit stiffer.

Have a great time at the track!

Call up your favorite suspension shop. I'm not qualifed by any stretch of the imagination, but they'll likely set you up with new springs, fork oil, and Racetech cartridge emulators. They should have recommendations for your weight and riding style.
