Default Form Advice Thread

Hey guys. Thought I might start this for everyone who was curious what they could be doing better when the bike is leaned over. I'll start it off becuase I sure want some suggestions to get faster...

So far I've been told that I need to get off the bike more, bend the elbows, and maybe point the shoulder a bit more into the corner too.

I dont know, but everything looks fine, remeber its your riding style, coaches can only correct you to a certain extent. Your form looks great. I cant tell where your feet are, but they look correct. IMO you look great!

You are not getting very much off the bike at all, hence you are leaning the bike a lot more than you need to. Here is something to try... slide your butt back in the seat a little so that you can use your outside leg to grip the tank, then take your face and try to put it where the mirror would be...this would get your upper body off the bike and then let the lower part of the body follow suit.

Here is a pic:

Agreed...........Forms go from rider to rider.

Classic example here of Rogue6 and javawhz. Kind of reminds me of the differences between the styles of Rainey and Schwantz.

Rogue6............That corner that the picture is taken. It appears nearly flat and off-camber a bit? Appears a bit narrower too.

A far cry from javawhz' pic from a greater banked corner from Willow Springs International Raceway.

Yea, that was taken at a smaller local track called Blackhawk Farms in IL. It was a flat sweeping right hander.

I'm just really hurting for the 9" of snow outside to melt and get back on a track.

IMO you should get off the bike a little more to reduce the lean angle. This will allow you to have more traction in the corner due to greater contact patch on the ground in the corner. Having more traction will allow you to get on the gas more in the corners. This in turn will improve your laptimes.

i gotta agree that getting off the bike more rogue would help. i'm by far no expert here, but everything I've been taught says to get your butt off the seat. here are two of my own pics, these should give a fairly good example of the butt thing, but also, just keeping your arms loose and your upper body over (kissing the mirror theory) that will actually help with your lower body positioning as well. This is not a threat, just some advice, don't let Jack at Slider Photo catch you posting pictures you haven't purchased. You could maybe put a link to the photo's on his site, but I definately wouldn't be doing this. He MAY not go after you legally, but he probably wouldn't ever shoot photo's or post photo's of you again on his website. He's made a comment in '04 that if people continued doing this he might stop posting them online all together, I personally don't want to see that happen. Jack's a great guy with alot of talent, the least you could do is buy some photo's from him for display purposes like this, maybe purchase a couple of his awesome calenders as well which are comprised of photo's of Midwestern track riders and racers.

Again this is just a freindly suggestion so we don't all loose the ability to see our pictures online at his website ( www.sliderphoto.com )

Rogue6 these images are specially for you in your search for enlightenment. For those that would enjoy eye candy look and become enlightened.

"For each rider has a riding style as each machine a personality"

God Bless those like Kevin Schwantz, Wayne Rainey, Randy Mamola, Eddie Lawson and about another handful of racers from the past for the great moments.

ENJOY!
