TRACK TEST - RIALTO AIPRORT SPEEDWAY CONFIGURATION #3

The Rialto Airport Speedway is a track primarily comprised of a 1/6th mile oval track, or bowl track with configurable road coarses. The road coarse as ridden, Configuration #3, is essentually a flat, off-camber track comprised of 8 Turns and one long main straight-a-way. If ridden as we did, from outside inside. The coarse flows with several 90 degree turns, medium length dog legs, a quick shicane with two cut-back, decreasing radius turns. Both of which are left hand turns.



Here is how the track looks through the visor.

From the Start/Finish Line you jockey the machine to the outside line of the track. Maintain this outside line along the concrete wall then the hay bails going around Kart Track Turn 1. Just before KT Turn 2, there is the first of two decreasing radius, cut-back left hand corners. Maintain the high line, hold your throttle and dive into Turn 2. From Turn 2, the line is to the outside on the dog leg as the machine approaches Turn 3. Turn 3 is a 90 degree, right hand turn. Maintaining this line, the ride will be set-up on the outside of the next dog leg. This position will allow you to cleanly make Turns 4a & 4b while carrying decent corner speeds. Turns 4a & 4b are left handers, nearly a double apex if ridden tight. But if ridden outside in, Turns 4a & 4b will be smooth and fast while giving good position to make the next turn cleanly. Turn 5, is a 90 degree, right hander. If Turn 5 is ridden outside in, the machine will be set-up for the sharp, near double apex Turn 6a & 6b that uses the connecting section of KT Turns 3 & 4. Turns 6a & 6b are the slowest corners of this circuit. With this in mind, corner speed through Turns 6a & 6b, along with maintaining the outside in line will be crucial in cleanly negotiating these turns. Once the machine has cleanly made the second and slower, decreasing radius cut-back left hand, Turn 6b. Entry into Turn 7, a quick right hander & 8, a quick left hander should allow the rider to point the machine straight through this chicane. Again, maintaining the outside in line will allow the pilot to begin to pin the throttle through these turns. From Turns 7 & 8, it is onto the main straight-a-way, up along the wall with the machines throttle pinned to the end. From there, repeat steps 1 through 8 until the smile can not be removed from your face!
