You know what I find interesting?

Many people that I have talked to about getting a track bike have recommended the SV650S. But so far, I can't find anyone that is actually using one for their personal track day bike!

Weird!

1. 2003 RC51 - yoshimura full exhaust, pc3r, scotts damper.
2. Would buy a GSXR 1000 just for track days (parts are plentiful)
3. Ducati 998 / 999

So true. On my first track day, there was a guy on a ninja 250 that was flying past me like I was stopped. The only time I could catch him was on the straight or if I lucked up and let my vtwin give me confidence that I could pass this little guy.

1 - I currently track ride an '03 Mille R - AWESOME bike, way better than I am. Basically stock except for a Titanium slip-on (saves ~20lbs), chip, tall windshield, and adjustable rearsets... not like there's much I could reasonably do to improve the bike. I am also track preparing a '94 Kawi ZX7 for myself/frineds to use... but I haven't turned a wheel down a track on the gren machine yet.

2 - I hopped on the Mille after my first season on a Honda F3. It was a big step in terms of capability, and it took me a month or two to become fully comfortable on the bike... now that I am in tune with the machine, I'm uber pleased with it's performance. So to answer your question... if I had to pay near retail, I'd go for a Jap 600, but if I got the same deal on the Mille R (dealer cost) and had it to do agian - I would in a flash.

3 - I would have several bikes to work on several skills. I'd keep the Mille (usable, stomping V-Twin), add a GSX-R 600 (gotta have a L4 supersport), finish the ZX7 (old school, heavy, stable superbike), an Aprilia RS-250 (to emphasize cornering speed), an SV-650 (tractible), a Honda NC-35 (more cornering speed), Honda RC-30 (uhhh... I like the sound), Yamaha R7.... I could go on, but this is getting silly - you get the idea.

Right now, my '02 R1 streetbike, tear it down and it's ready roll. I high a highmount devil slip on, steering damper, braided front brake lines, and HH pads.

I'd probably get a 600 because the R1 eats the tires like there is no tomorrow.

Unlimited funds, well, Aprilia Factory R, or a FI inline 4 cyclinder 600.

1. 2001 Kawasaki ZX7R MODS: full muzzy system, 520XSO chain, RRP sprocket set (-1 front, +3 rear), galfer steel braided brake lines, ECP brake pads, Woodcraft rear sets, carbon fiber frame sliders, sharkskinz body work, micheline pilot race-soft front, super soft rear-, factory pro stage 1 jet kit, removed all the emisions stuff. Lindermans Engineering front forks.

2. doing it over again probably a GSXR 750, it is lighter nimbler, with a little adjusting on the suspension it can be a great track bike.

3. ZX10!!! I love my Kaws.

As of now I ride a 01 GSXR 600 on the track, I love it, but if I had to buy another track bike over again it would either be a 600RR or a RS250. And if I had unlimited funds to ride any bike on the track it would deffeintly have to be the Honda RC211V!! But of course I wouldnt know what to do with that much power...hell I wouldnt be able to controll that much power, but it sure would be fun!!!

1. 2002 F4i, mods include M4 highmount slipon, Vortex rearsets and rebuilt front forks by PPS Racing Suspension (http://www.ppsracing.com), rest is all stock. Run around 10 secs off the AMA guys.

2. If I were to buy a new bike today it would most definitely be a 2005 600RR. It is an absolutely amazing bike.

3. Would be riding an RC211V of course Perhaps one of the Ten Kate 600RRs

my F4i at Willow Springs Raceway:

Current bike is a 99' 49 stater R6.

- Racetech Front forks w/ .95 springs
- EBC HH sintered race brake pads
- Goodridge SS lines
- Hi point 6 spoke forged aluminum rims
- GYT-R Slip-on
- BMC filter
- Rennsports
- 520 conversion
- 16/50 sprocket kit

If I had to pick up another bike today, I would grab the 05' ZX-6R based on my riding experience today. I started riding on a 150cc, so I wouldn't have had it any other way. I agree with the post earlier, learn to ride first, then worry about the mods later. Especially the power mods. First things are first and that, to me is -- gear, suspension, and lots of riding time. Sometimes you see people with completely worked up bikes, I mean complete ohlins stuff, and yet they can't ride any better than your experienced riders on completely stock bikes.

If I had unlimited funds, I would buy 2 bikes. 1 Aprilia RS250, and another Ducati 999R. The RS250 to practice being smooth on the brakes and throttle. And the Duc to let all your riding experience and accumulated knowledge out on one of the best handling bikes on the market.

'02 ZRX1200. Big for the track, but it makes it allot easier to ride the smaller ones. Muzzy SS, Ivans jet kit, Ted's advancer, Works Pro, Race Tech. I will keep up with most of the bikes, but not the real fast guys. Too much to haul around. Great off track also. ZX10 if I could afford it right now.
