video chat/conferencing, which software to choose?
what video chat or video conferencing software do you guys recommend for one on one internet communication?
the main reason i am asking is to be able to talk to my wife over the internet while we are going to be separated.
i am clueless in the VOIP/video chat stuff via the internet, so i am open to all suggestions.
thanks in advance.

I'd choose msn because it shows good quality and the display is pretty big.
Oh and did I say it's free? xD
But if you want to talk you'll have to pay money. that's another option in msn and I never do that.
If you want a display and talk at the same time I'd choose AIM which doesnt cost a dime. but the display in aim is a little smaller and it might lag a bit depending on your whereabouts. K? k...
Oh and there's this thing called ventrilo if you want to talk to lots of people at once. Download that if you want.

will do. i won't be using it for at least a week.
from the same network, the video feed is pretty damn good. i'm anxious to see how the video feed (frames per second, audio delay, etc.) will be like miles and miles away.

i talked to my sister using skype with the video camera going as well, on the opposite coast. it works very well. there wasn't a log with the frames per second, the audio was better than a cell phone, the video was awesome too. just make sure you have a decent webcam. my sister's webcam is about 5 years old and it was very pixelated (grainy looking), but according to her, the video from my webcam was clear and crisp. i have a logitech quickcam communicate deluxe (about $80 at best buy).
i definitely recommend it.
