I've got an Inspiron XPS and I love it. I bought it for myself while in Iraq, and while it might not be necessary now, it was great then. This was back in 2003, and I paid almost $3,000 for it, warranty and all. It was worth it at the time: I set it up with a 3.4 ghz Pentium 4 H/T, 60 gig h/d @ 7200 rpm, ATI 9600 (I'm at work-- I think that's right) w/ 256 mb onboard memory, upgraded speaker set, built in wi-fi (802.11g), cd/dvd rw, and their best 17" widescreen monitor with ZERO reflection.
This thing, aside from the nicks and dings on the outer case, still runs like a champ and will be my only computer for awhile until I find the time to build my own desktop.
The only problems I've had on my model are the rubber nubs that stick to the edges of the monitor casing (the ones that protect the screen from the keyboard) came out too easily, and within the first few weeks the letter 'x' popped out of my keyboard. Dell was easy to work with. The expedited the new keyboard and tools to my FOB and that was that.
