Default Laptop won't dharge

I plug it in but it does not charge or even register it is plugged in. The lug is plugged in the wall and the wires are all plugged to the computer but it does nothing. My guess is the prongs where you plug it in are not holding the cord in right? Any ideas or suggestions how to fix this?

Is it a round style plug? No lights come on?

Do you have a voltmeter handy?

The AC adapters tend to die suddenly, usually after a couple of years. It could also be the DC port in the machine, or the actual board.

Is it a Toshiba? It's a common problem for them, there is a work around if you aren't afraid of a little wiring.

A75, M35X, P25, P35, P115 tend to have these issues alot. You can generally tell if the DC jack is loose by pulling up or down while turning on the laptop to see if the charge light comes on, then if you wiggle it it'll shut off. (If you turn it on and try this a minute later, even if it gets a good contact the charge light still won't come on, has to be while powering the laptop on).

If it is loose, the A75 and M35X are covered under an "extended warranty", and Best Buy will send it to be fixed for free.
For the others, if you're not afraid of taking some screws out and plastics apart, you can take a soldering gun and fix it.

I got it fixed under warranty. They fixed that and a few other things. The board quit on it.
