I got this from their website.

"HDMI and HDMI/DVI Jacks

Many of Samsung's 2005, 2006, and current model TVs have a combined HDMI/DVI input jack. You cannot use the combined HDMI/DVI jack to connect your Samsung TV to your computer's DVI video output jack. If your Samsung TV has an HDMI only jack, you cannot use the HDMI jack to connect your Samsung TV to your computer's DVI video output jack. Samsung TVs do not support DVI to HDMI computer video connections."

Sounds like your dvi to dvi cable may fix the problem.

All information was gotten from: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faqs/supportFaq.do

Many of the DLP sets do this; often the only workaround is to use a video card feature to trim the overscan. I've seen this referenced in numerous reviews of different brands/models, so it's common enough to be something they check for.
