Default Acer Computer problem

Ive got an Acer 3003WLCi that has been pretty decent to me, but i just started having trouble with the AC plug. I have to rotate it and play with it for the AC power to work. There seems to be alot of play in that hole.

Is it possible to change out the powersource on these laptops?

the simple answer.. no..

now the long answer..
laptop computers have every thing attached to the same main board, so to change the power port you must replace the entire motherboard. it is done, however most motherboards are so expensive it is not worth while to replace.
you can take it to a local computer shop and get a quote.

good luck.

I'd crack it open and see if one of the solder joints is loose.

You have to decide whether or not you've got a steady hand and have had some practice at soldering.

luckly im pretty skilled at soldering. I took a class about a year ago. I spent the entire class soldering chips

However, i dont think it would be a solder joint. If i move the plug a certain way the AC power stays on. but their just seems to be alot of play between the plug and the inlet port

hmm, well im gonna go borrow my brother's AC adaptor and see if it fits better.(same laptop, but with better specs.) Hopefully it will just be that the adaptor is bad.

If not...well time to get a new laptop.

alot of times a new ac adapter will work..

and if you feel confident enough you can resodier the power adapter on the main board. however geting to it is not a easy task. is the pin in the middle of the adapter loose? or the whole plug assembly? if its the pin you will NOT be able to soilder it backtogether if it is the assembly you will have a much better chance at geting that reconnected

The pin doesnt seem to be loose. So, im hoping its just the AC adaptor.

It could just be the springy metal piece that keeps pressure on the pin is weak. You might be able to just rebend it or add something so that it keeps pressure on the pin.
