I'm looking to build a desktop without breaking the bank. I don't have anything except a SATA HDD that I bought on accident off newegg. Should I just return it or try to build something??

which hard drive is it?

you can't build a decent system for less than $700 really, and thats obsolete technology. last comp i spec'd was $1200, but had 1TB worth of drive space on an AMD X2.....

puts me at about $735....need a couple other things but this would be mostly for .ts capture from a motorola 6412 HD receiver. graphics card and some IDE drives, case and proper cooling would go right around 1G.....with the better mobo would be a little more.
