How do I view a .CSV file ?

I was just using my online banking with my local bank, and I was trying to go back a ways and view my last few statements. I wanted to download the spreadsheet version of the file which is I think a .csv file or something like that. However, I guess my computer (purchased from dell a few months ago) doesnt have excell installed. Is there any similar free programs on the net, or any other way to view this type of file without buying stuff from microsoft?

Notepad can, although it may not be pretty. Did it come with MS Works? Most any spreadsheet program would make it presentable. You could try openoffice.org, too.

I use Excel, but it's purchased software.

+1 OpenOffice will handle it just fine.

CSV is a comma separated value file. Each entry should be separated by a comma in that file. Notepad will open it and you should be able to see the contents.

After that, you can try replacing each "," with a tab, then it'll be much more readable. Hopefully it's not too big of a file.
