Default How to create a fairly simple website?

I was just curious. There has to be a way for inexperienced people to start up some simple websites. Is there a program to download, a good website to go to, or even a good "easy to follow" book for starting a website?

Looking to try something out if it's not too complicated. Not looking to do anything fancy. Just trying to help a buddy out with getting some of his business information out there and what kind of service he provides. It is kind of a "visual" business so it would have some pics and then plenty of text. Also just some contact information.

If somebody could point me in the right direction, I would appriciate.

If I'm getting in over my head, it wouldn't be the first time.

I think yahoo has a service where you get a domain for 5 bucks a year and they already have templates for you to fill your info out on. So you don't have to worry about coding, which can be a pain.

Hey Justin, this would be a great question to ask Kerry since he's got his own website that he put together pretty much just showcase his bikes and skiing/snowboarding. Let me know, but you should have his email address, if you don't, drop me a line.

What Rascus said.

Any of the major web hosting providers will have a template system in place for folks new to web page creation.

As far as programs, personally, I wouldn't use any of them for noobs. They've all gotten far too complex now. If you really want to learn how to code, pick up a Dreamweaver book. After you finish it, come on over to w3c.org and enjoy learning more about the fantastic world of being a nerd.

This may not be applicable to you if you don't want to buy a Mac, but I find iWeb the simplest and most intuitive tool for creating web pages, ever.

With a .Mac account it is extremely easy to upload web pages.

Have your friend look through this website http://www.csszengarden.com/ and have him pick out a design.
