Default can't get video from my camera

i have a sony handycam, i took some video yesterday and i'd like to put it on my computer. my computer won't import it though. i have adobe premiere elements on my computer, i go to add media from dvd camera or removable drive. there is no camera listed to import from. my usb cable is hooked up, the camera is in vcr mode, is there anything i'm doing wrong?

Try opening Your Computer up. It windows sees the camera it should be listed it there.

If not unplug the cam, restart the pc and once its up and going plug the camera in but make sure the camera is on when you connect it. Windows should then install the camera as a new drive.

If your using win XP try using windows Movie Maker it can import video from cameras and is by far easier to work with than adobe. Adobe has a brickwall of a learning curve.

dude, thank you so much, using windows movie maker works perfectly. i e-mailed both sony and adobe, neither when helped out at all.

Awesome! Glad you got it going!

I personally really like Movie Maker. Its so simple yet the more you fool with it the more you find it can do. You can get loads of extra add ons for it too.
