Sager makes Alienware...they just slap their name on and charge you 30% more. I'll let you in on another secret...there's really only about 3-4 OEM's that make laptops...everyone else just puts their name on them.

Yeah, your "mobile" computer has those specs and i'm sure it games well. However, my Shuttle XPC case and LCD is probably lighter...and gets better battery life ;-) When it comes to REAL mobile laptops...the ones optimized for use on the road, running off of battery...hardcore gaming isn't going to happen. The best you'll be able to play well is WoW or RTS-style games.

Tech support was able to help me solve my problem. Yes it sucked having to break english barier, but it wasn t the end of the world. For my problem they had a script in front of them telling them the next logical thing that could be wrong. In the end i bought some new memory not from Dell and i was happy. If you are out to save a book and don't need anything special in the means of a comp. i'd say dell is good enough

FWIW I've never really had any problems with my Dimension 2400 and it's 3 years old.

Yet ANOTHER problem with them. After sending my bad harddisk off for data recovery, I called Dell to have them send a replacement. I received it the next day, and it was the WRONG harddrive! So instead of me finally, after over 1 month of waiting, being able to get my laptop up and running, I've got to wait for them to send the correct one!

My XPS, when it's working, does a great job for games. In Iraq, getting a tower to use there and take home with me wasn't an option, and since I had all that hazard duty money sitting around, I jumped all over that. I kinda wish I would've waited it out and built my own tower though.... again: DELL SUCKS!

What else is wrong with this XPS of your's daytona? I bought my first in box computer a couple months ago and spent a couple hours cleaning all the crap from Toshiba off of it. Since then it's run like a champ.

Right now I'm in the (slow) process of putting all my old stuff back on the new hard disk. Initially, I deleted some of teh ghey stuff Dell put on there and it did great. The first problem I encountered was the headphone/mic jack went out, and I had a few problems with that hard drive. Since I wasn't the only one that used it who knows wtf those guys did, but for what I used it for, it did great. My only complaint about the system itself is that it's a Dell product and I hate their call center/cust. service.
The lappy itself is awesome- 3.4ghz P4 ht, 60gb hd @ 7900 RPM, 256mb ATI video card (can't remember the model off the top of my head- I'm at work), and the LCD is 15.4" widescreen, and I can't remember the stupid acronym they gave it, but you can view it from ANY angle and there is hardly any light reflection.

The jack taking a shit is a kick in the nuts for sure. Had this happen on a sound card years ago. Luckly the card was so old it didn't matter, a few wires plus a soldering iron gave it some extra life.

The hard drive thing is a headache too. Any idea what brand drives they use in those?

Hitachi, if my memory serves me well.

And yeah, when the headphone jack went out, I was pissed. Like I said earlier, I bought the thing from Dell's website while I was in Iraq, and I used it solely for Movies, Games and listening to MY music in a room full of different people with different tastes. So yeah, I was a little more than pissed when it went out.
