My bad- I didn't mean to get anyone into trouble. I had no idea it was this hard/secretive/legal. I just want my pics. Weird...

Did you try updating your version of MPT? Older versions can't find newer phones...i know I had that problem with my v551 and RAZR until I used the update feature about 6 times, patching from v3.11

With the bluetooth dongle, there is no software needed. It's just like a thumb drive for storage...plug it in the usb port on your pc and it sets itself up. Then you just go to your phone or pc and select the file you want to move and then select where you want to move it (like you would to a floppy drive or cd drive). It's really easy.

I need to try the BT method myself. I've been using MPT for a while, and I agree it's a pain. For me, it has a habit of stopping somewhere in the middle of a file transfer, and then I have to restart both MPT and the RAZR to get it connect again ... and 9 times out of 10, lather, rinse, repeat. Only way to make it even remotely stable is to put the phone in airplane mode.

I'm currently looking on ebay right now. I see a bunch of cheap-o versions from the Asian market. Any thoughts before I plunge $0.01 + $12.99 s/h for one? I see that some have a distance of 10m, and some have a distance of 100m. Other than that, I should get bluetooth v1.2 compatible with USB v2.0.

The razr is BTv1.0, so a v1.2 dongle will not likely work
you don't need any of the stuff posted before here. although it can be done with BT and MPT, it does not have to be done that way.

what u need:

PC
mini usb (5pin)
p2kman (program, use google)
motorola usb driver (driver, use google, also try "anty506" in searching)

install the driver, install p2kman, connect phone, click "update list" button, navigate to pictures folder, choose "phone -> PC" button, browse to the folder you want your pics, save.

coicidently, this program has much more power than that (DO NOT mess with the other buttons!), but its rock solid. MPT sux and has known driver problems. p2kman can transfer/delete any file on the phone, so be careful. if you want to learn some advanced info, i can point you in the right direction.

BTW, i have 3 razrs, fully customized.....but when messing with them this weekend, i bricked them (ie they wont even power on). so please, know what you're doing before you press the little buttons. PM me if ya have questions.

Thanks for all the info. I'm sure I'll dive into phone modding stuff later on, right now, I think I'll go with the USB dongle (which is backwards compatible with 1.0 btw)
