Default Looking for a new monitor

Anybody have any suggestions of what screens to look for or where online to look for them? Or is a Circuit City or some place like that going to be a better place to buy something like that?

My Gateway EV910 monitor that I am currently using is now around 6 years old. It's a 19 inch monitor with an 18.0 inch useable area. It seems like everything is just getting a little darker and I can't adjust the brightness up any farther to make things lighter.

I'm needing to start looking for a new monitor. I really don't want it to be any smaller than my current 18 inch useable area. However, I don't need to go crazy and get a LCD or even a flat panel screen. I have been happy with the images that this old, big, CRT screen has given me for a long time. Basically I'm saying I'm cheap and would rather buy a cheaper CRT than to spend the money for a LCD even though the image quality on the LCD's are amazing (from what little I've seen of them). I'm just looking for something that looks and works good.

How much of a hurry are you in getting one? The one I'm using now is a 19in CRT. We are talking about upgrading. You know...i don't think it would make shipping

I'm not even sure what type of market there is for CRT's now. I'm sure pretty limited, espically in the 19in range.

Go to all of these stores and see if you can pick up a Floor Model or find a discontinued one...or find one with a decent rebate. With these you may be able to get a better model at a cheaper price.

Thanks.

I was also checking out these on Tiger Direct. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&CMP=ILC-FPM05 They are off-lease, but from what all the revies say, the monitors are still top notch. They are pretty cheap too. About $150 shipped to me for a 21 inch CRT or $210 for a 19 inch LCD

Default Newegg.com

I would recommend Newegg.com. They usually have the best prices on computer equipment and their shipping is very reasonable. They have plenty of 19" LCD's for around 200-250 brand new that you can check out (with reviews) here .. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e= &maxPrice=

I would definitely recommend an LCD, they take up less space, use less power, and have come a long way from the ghosting that used to make them undesirable for gaming. Some of these even come with rebates to put them at $175.

I just got this one for my wife and she loves it but I have taken over untill I get my pc back up and running.

This monitor is pretty sweet. A little excessive but worth it.

Get the Dell 2005FPW. It is a 21" wide screen monitor. It is actually the same exact monitor as the Apple Cinema display, with the exception that it is actually a bit better, (As per side by side review from Anandtech) since it uses a different back light, and has usb inputs etc...

That'll be my next monitor...or should i say monitors, as i run dual or triple head normally. You can get it as cheap as $300 if you don't mind waiting a bit and monitoring www.gotapex.com for special deals.

I just got a 20" monitor for $350 from Tigerdirect. Reason it costs $100 more is cause it has a max res of 1680x1200, 900:1 Contrast, and 8ms response time. Yeah, I wanted it to play games with.
