Hmmm.....Do you have a standby button on the modem? May check that. Have you tried rebooting the modem and the router both?? You probably have just throwing them out there as a suggestion.

It sounds like it might have something to do with a windows update.
on both computers? you saying not updated or an updated messed with my stuff. My wireless lan is still connecting, and the wireless router is talking to the modem, and according to the lights the modem is talking to the ISP.

Unplug both for a full minute. Plug modem back in...wait at least 1 minute. Then plug your router back in. Reboot your system.

I had this problem every 2 wks or so. My wireless router would somehow lose it's IP address and I couldn't connect to either my PC or laptop. I was disconnecting both the modem and the router but turns out I just had to do the router. Sometimes that works other times I have to unplug the router for say a minute, start it back up then reboot the PC. Works after that.
Most times when mine goes crazy I just reset everything and it works itself out. Sometimes the system loses the IP and has to get it back. Happens a lot too when they do an update to the system you are connecting to. (DSL, cable)

2 Hours? That's a long time, depending on your modem, you can log into the internal diagnostics and find out what the signal is. The downstream recieve power level should range from -14 to +14, the signal to noise ratio is good to have under 15, and the upstream transmit power level should be above 32 and below 52. If any of those are out of spec, or borderline. Call your isp and see if they're in spec's for their service, if not they need to readjust your signals. If the modem took that long to acquire there may be an issue in the area, or the signals.
