If I carried around an extendable baton there would be a number of CSR's from various companies laying on the ground in the fetal position

Default Best Buy don't know shit

Officer 737. I was just wondering if you're talking about Windows Longhorn? Longhorn is the next Windows GUI line being launched in 2007, to replace XP. Yes Longhorn will run on all newer '00 and later, systems running Celeron processors, AMD chipsets and all Intel equipped PC's. But it seems like Windows Longhorn will work better with new motherboards such as AMD 64, Intel Itaniums or any dual core processors. As right now, pre mature beta versions has been launched but selectively. I hope this helps.

(this is where I show that I'm a geek)
Who still calls it Longhorn? They released the official name (Windows Vista) quite a while back.

One of the key requirements for running Vista will be 512MB of RAM. Most modern processors will still run the OS even if they aren't optimized for it - many people will find, however, their motherboard or older processor won't support the RAM necessary to have decent performance.

Hell, my XP Pro laptop uses 300 to 400 MB of RAM just to keep the OS, web browser, and AnitVirus moving. It could work with less but it sure would suck! I can't imagine running an OS that's even more of a hog and not having at least 1GB of RAM.

I've had my share of problems with Bestbuy.. yes they don't work on commission, but they do when it comes to selling you warrantees.

1) Overheard a kid trying to sell a $110 warrantee for a $80 scanner. The woman asks "Why would I pay $110 for a $80 scanner?" He replies "Scanners break about once a year.. and it's a 3 year warrantee"

2) Was helping my mother in-law buy a low end desktop computer. The sales guy says "You need to get a warrantee because these computers break all the time.." I asked for the manager and asked him why they sell computers that break all the time.. haha!

3) Went to buy a cheap stereo for my daughter (3 years old). I picked it up and headed to checkout.. a guy stops me and tells me that I should get a warrantee.. I tell him not for a $60 system.. he goes and gets a manager who also tells me I need to buy a warrantee.. I handed him the box and walked out

4) Went to buy Sirus radio.. the sales buy says he can check me out.. as he's doing it, and says "good news, you get an extended warrantee with this!" So I say "Wow.. great!".. then the total due was like $50 more than what he should have been. THE ASSHAT JUST PUT THE WARRANTEE IN WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!" I asked him why he did that.. he replied "that's our standard"

I still go to BestBuy but I no longer talk to the sales people.. I get what I need to just pay.

Glad to see asshats that work at Best Buy are not limited just to the stores in Tenn. Those are some good ones

I try and do the same thing now, get what I need and the hell out of there.

FutureShop is just as bad. Always trying to sell you warranties and shit. Assholes. I love how they tell me how great a product is and then try to sell me a warranty for it because it WILL break.

My buddy (the dumbass he is) actually bought a warranty on an Xbox 360 video game! He said they told him that even if his dog eats it, it'll get replaced.

I guess there's enough dumb people out there for them to make some nice cash.

On most things I buy if it has a 3 year warranty and lasts that long I am happy with that. Only large purchases do I bother with an extended warranty.

isn't vista still only being offered through MSDN right now? The official release won't be until late this year.

They told me it would be some time late this year or next before it came out.....but that is what Best Buy said so take it for what it's worth.
