I only go there when I need something quick that I would normally have to order, see something in person then order it on the net or if they are my last resort. I went to 2 of them that day. They didin't have the one I was looking for at the first and rrove to the 2nd one. The Geeks R Us guy at the first one was great! Dick Danny at the other sucked a big.......
I have been to several of them and it seems they have some of the dumbest shits that every worked before there. Some are very helpful and some couldn't find their peckers with both hands on it.
Next time I am coming to SBN for info

As an HP employee and a long time computer geek, I can also assure that the BestBuy jackass was exactly that.
I've upgraded the RAM in EVERY computer I've owned and never had a warranty problem. Hell, when I shipped my Dell back for service, I pulled all of the RAM (didn't want them pulling my 1 gig when they replaced something and returning it to me with the factory 256). They didn't say a damn thing about it - just did the work and sent it back (a month and a half later --- slow bastards).

Even the guys from Dell say (and on the their website) "before shipping to the depot remove any added components (burners, MEMORY, software, power adapter, etc.) from your system as they might not be returned with the system. In most owner's manuals they even give detailed instruction on how to add more memory to your system.

In most owner's manuals they even give detailed instruction on how to add more memory to your system.
Make sure to get the same speed memory when you add it!!!
remember same speed and size!! actually i dont know about mixing brands either. Ive always heard that you should buy in pairs or use single.

Average people who dont know anything about computers are getting ripped off by these tools. Most people figure when they go into Bestbuy that the people know what they are talking about. I guess if you really want to protect yourself you should read up!! (i bet most people who get ripped off are the elderly)

I hear ya!!! I think the people should be forced to wear signs "I am a dumbass and only plan to take your money". I agree about reading up!! It has saved me a lot of money over time. Sales people hate when you walk in with all your "homework" You would also think someone working at that place in a rich neighborhood would know what they were talking about!
