TV out error

Some asshole let himself into my room while on barracks duty a few days ago to use my laptop and now I can't watch DVDs on my computer. It says that there is an error with the TV out and I can't watch copyrighted discs with it enabled but gives no hint as how to fix the problem. Could someone enlighten me?
