I got to put around 15 mi on a Gladius the other week, Suzuki came to our shop so we could demo the 09 bikes. I loved it, they are amazing machines as I'm sure you are LEARNING!! GREAT CHOICE!!

You seriously just took off the muffler and didn't replace it with anything?
That has got to be annoyingly loud.
Which is why it is gay. Because you are being obnoxious. Which makes people think that everyone on a sport bike is a tool.
This is one of the main reasons I detest most harley riders. For some reason, they think running open pipes is awesome. And when I had an apartment close to a fairly major road, they were the ONLY vehicle you could hear from my place. Not something I need to hear at 3am every night.

I have no idea what "being gay" is about, but you seem to know plenty.
My Galdius sounds like a Duc for ur info, if you have never heard of a Gladius running with the tailpipe off, then you have no idea how quiet it is; simply assuming that it gets as loud as a HD.. makes you as much of an a$$ as me.
3600 mi. on my Gladius since Late May, I just put on a windscreen to get the cold wind off my cheast and arms.. not I can hear the engine and exhaust notes much clearer.

not sure but i was considering a possible trade in for my 500 and was wondering what the aftermarket was like for the gladius and whether parts from an sv would fit. because there are tons of parts for sv's
There is not a whole lot for aftermarket parts for Gladius, wouldn't want to void factory warranty by heavily moded exhaust, FI or suspension items anyway. My mods are all easily done and reverse back to stock just as easy. OEM mirros weighs alot, I changed them to black plastic ones that weigh 1/3 of originals. I changed OEM steel chrome handlebar to black alloy bar that's about 1/2 the weight. OEM tailpipe is easily removed from the bike, that's abotu 7-8 lb. of dead weight.
What specifically do you have in mind that you want to mod a Gladius with SV parts anyway? the bike itself it pretty well put together and spec'ted for its intended purpose.
not sure what exactly since it would be for my girl. probably atleast maybe a slip on. i was also thinking more about the replacement parts. just in case something happened. cause i know if u needed a replacement for an sv the parts are cheap and everywhere.
so parts like clipons, rearsets, levers, brake lines. just basic stuff

-Slip on exhaust would be adding weight and waste of money, since the bike runs fine and sounds nice with the tailpipe off the bike.
-Clip-on bars, as long as they are 41mm, they would fit; just need to figure out the wiring, cable and hoses routing.
-I've seen Gladius race bikes that use GSXR rearsets, don't know which year.
-levers and brake lines are pretty common parts, Pezzo, Galfer, Speigler, take your pick... but if the Gladius is for your GF, probably won't need those for a while. Heck, I ride the piss out of my Gladius, I feel the stock brakes/suspension/echaust they are all fine. Maybe different after a couple fo trackdays, but that won't be after the factory warranty runs out.

you need to ask around. Running your bike without your pipe is eventually going to cause problems. Finding replacement parts from older sv's would be a big help. They're plentiful and cheap. Especially small things that are expensive like rearsets and levers.
Dont wait for the factory warranty to runout for trackday dummy! Get out there and do it! They will have no way to know that you were doing trackdays unless you seriously bin the bike. That way if you forget to tighten your oil drain bolt and seize an engine they'll fix it for you!

How many bikes shave you ran into trouble running without the tailpipe? I've heard at least 6 other Gladius owners running without tailpipe, highest mileage over 6000.
Dummy? how many trackdays have you done on a brand new bike less than 4 months old? How many engines have you seized by forgetting to tighten the oil drain bolt? How many bikes have you actually gotten the factory to replace the engine under warranty?
Don't know about you, but I like to keep my bikes running and avoid the hassle of getting stuff warrantied.

if we do get it, im planning on taking it to the track for sure.
i have a bunch of gsxr spare parts i wonder if somethings would fit.
interesting idea though the gladius is looking better all the time
im not worried about the warrenty ;)
Good for you to participate in trackdays, personally it's too rich of a hobby for my taste, I prefer riding my bike right out of my garage, save the money honing my riding skills on my own risk in the streets under proper conditions. Once or twice on the track is enough for me every couple of years.

lol u say that because you havent been on the track yet. once u do u will realize that its addictive like crack. u will find your self scraping every last dollar and eating ramen for weeks just to do another day.

I did 4 trackdays my first season on my bike in the first 6,000 miles. It's what most bikes are built to do. Most dealers dont care how or where you ride your bike if there's a warranty covered problem. Because the dealer doesnt pay for it. The manufacturer does. Now start selling some crack and get on the track!
