I installed my H4 Bi-Xenon 6000K HID Kit that I ordered from xenonlink.com this morning. I got started about 5am and finished up and did a test ride at 9:30am.
This is my first HID kit install on any vehicle and took my time to make sure it was a good clean install. I soldered, shrink tubed and electrical taped all splices made in the wires. I used some velcro to hold the relay to the bodywork on the right side of the bike. The ballast uses one of the screws holding the body work together and a good amount of velcro to hold it in place. I'll take some pics tonight to show how bright it really is.
I was thinking about doing that, but didn't for the reason you can see in your 2nd night picture. The light goes everywhere...it's not really focused as it was intended to be. Besides that though looks like you did a real clean install.
Also might I ask what you did about the light being on before the bike starts? I know most HID kits I looked at said that if there is the light is always on to disable it(the bikes light always being on before the bike being started).
From what I've noticed the light comes on for less than 10 secs before my bike is started. i don't see that as a problem. I'll do an update of any issues after I get to ride it around some more. I'm at MSF course this weekend and I hope to ride it alot next week.
Also I thought it was a traffic law to have the head light on at all times.
I think that traffic law varies depending on the state, but I may be wrong. In California they have to be on in tunnels, rain, and night time (to my knowledge).
CA has required motorcycle headlights to be on at all times since the 1980's. I now believe that it's a US law as all bikes run headlights all the time.
I believe the concern about HID lights coming on before the bike is started has to do with what happens AS the bike is started. The starter is a huge current draw and drops the voltage to the lights. This could damage HID light components. Some bikes shut off the lights while the starter is used. This is better, but still causes another power OFF/ON cycle for the lights which isn't good.
Another issue when changing light bulbs is not to exceed the wattage of the OEM bulbs by too much. More watts means more amps and more heat. If you double the wattage, for example, the wires and bulb enclosures may not be able to dissipate the extra load. This assumes that the bulb sockets are replaced. If not, then the ratings of the sockets might be an issue as well.
Holy Thread Resurrection Batman.
Well since the thread is alive again, I'll do an update. 7,416 miles later, I have had electrical zero issues with adding the HID Kit. Totally non related to the HID Kit, I bought a new AGM battery and a battery tender jr. The original battery was 3 years old and I prefer AGM batteries over the oem ones.
As for legality of having the HID kit in this bike, I have not been pulled over by LEO since upgrading the headlight. Tennessee cops care very little about something as piddly a motorcycle headlight.
I did not see your comments on the quality of the light at night? Was it worth it? My Bandit's headlight really lacks and would consider this if it improves things. Thanks

I know this is not a very timely reply. I've been away from the forum for way too long. Anyways, I'll do another update. Well since I last updated, the HID bulb quit working. Not sure if the bulb burnt out or if there is something wrong with the wiring harness. I have since reverted back to the halogen bulb, but have left the HID wiring in place.
As for has the kit been worth it, right now its a toss up. I like that there was tons more light, but if the bulb isn't gonna last more than 9k miles, then I probably will find another lighting solution.
I'm looking into a LED bulb, not sure if it will have and advantages over the HID.
