Sportbike: suzuki sv or gsxr 1000 or 750 not decided
SV 1000 VS GSXR 1000 and 750
Alright I am going to buy a new bike and I was wondering what to get. I am tossing up the idea of the SV 1000 beacause it is bigger and has a rear seat for my wife to ride once in awhile. But I have been told it will not be able to keep up with my buddys GSXR 1000 thats not a big deal b/c there are also a SV650 a GSXR 750 and a couple other bikes we ride with will the SV 1000 be able to keep up with those bikes. I heard the SV is great low end power and good of of the twisties and thats what i like. I guess any info on keeping up with those bikes would be great i just dont want to get left behind. If the SV isnt what i get it will be a GSXR 1000 or 750

this is my first sportbike but not my first bike i have also ridden my buddys bikes i probably wont be going down the freeway that fast and if we were the 600's we ride with would get left behind also so the only one going that fast is the GSXR 1000 i just want to know from someone who has the sv 1000 how it does when riding with the inline 4 bikes
The only time I've felt "inadequate" on my sv1k was riding with a couple of friends (R1 and FZ1) who did like to do 130-140+ on open highways. I won't go that fast for any distance, but usually caught up with them every few miles when they waited for a few seconds. In the twisties there's no issue with the bike. There it's all up to the rider.

Never out-ride your ability to react (even stop) within the distance you can see (at least on the street).
There's not a bike in the world that would leave me behind if I was riding an SV1000. At least, not while riding with a bunch of tools. No offense to your friends.
But hell- I wouldn't even need a bike THAT big to feel "adequate". Some of my friends go 120+ down the interstate when we go riding. That's fine. I'm not going to TRY to keep up. I just don't go that fast. Period.
They also go WAY too fast through the corners.... at night... with gravel on the roads in random spots.
I let them have at it.
They have also ALL wrecked before. Totalled at least one bike each. I've never even dropped mine. I don't NEED to keep up with them if that's what it's going to get me.

I guess I miss your post in which you said this is going to be your first sportbike... I would defenitively NOT recommend a GSXR600, 750 or 1000 unless you have decent experience riding sportbikes. A GSXR is more like a Super Sportbike is a pourpose built Race Replica.
Like it was said before, it is up to the rider and his/her skill level. I ride a little SV650, and on the straights, any 600 i4 will smoke me! My bike stops pulling hard at about 120mph and tops out at about 135mph! However, when riding on the canyons, I pass my buddy on his R6, another buddy on his GSXR1000 and like 5 other guys. It is in part because they are not applying their skills. Yes, I ride agressively. I trust that my tires will grip, and I throttle up my SV untill it cries.
I would not recommend anything bigger than the SV1000. Just be careful, because SV loves to wheelie. My SV650 front wheel sees air everytime I gun it on first and second gear.
Whatever you get be carefull and do a lot of reading... There is a lot of goodbooks out there. Ride with knowledge and you will be fine. Luis
+1^^^ i would not recommend a SS600cc for a first sportbike or a 1k for that matter... stick with a sv650, fz6, kawi 650r... something along that lines... if you are just wanting to go straight and fast... then Fuck just buy ya a busa or a zx14 and skip all the namby pamby bullshit...
