Thanks joey and greg all the information is much appreciated, and i completely understand that a 600 is not a beginners bike. I have been riding around locally on my suzuki 125 and every now and then my buddy lets me take out his cbr600rr which i really enjoy riding but im a suzuki guy all the way i have an 06 ltr450 quad racer and my 82 gn 125 i would love to add a gsxr600 to my collection eventually.

after running a few more tanks through it, it doesn't seem like running it in C-mode improves the gas mileage at all. i just leave it in A all the time now, which is the default anyways

I don't understand how this is a sticky because it is in fact incorrect. I don't like to call things out on forums because i hate when everyone "argues" about shit on the internet, but..

B mode is NOT throttle dependant.. If that dyno chart had "b" mode on it, it would be somewhere right in the middle of A and C mode.
I have a 08 600 and anyone that know's how to read there owners manual and has would know that it pretty much reads like this..

A mode - Full Power

B mode - Less power than A mode

C mode - Less power than B mode

That chart is for the GSXR1000K7. Like I said before.

On the 1k, the B mode offers less power than A mode UNTIL YOU GO WIDE OPEN throttle, then it is just like A mode. It is throttle dependant because you cannot compare a dyno graph for the partial throttle B mode against the wide open throttle A mode and the wide open throttle C mode.

Alright then if that is a fact then you need to change or rephrase this line "There's been a lot of confusion regarding the A-B-C mode switch on Suzuki's '07 GSXR 1k, the '08 GSXR 600/750/1k and the '08 Hayabusa." because obviously that is false information for the 08 600 for a fact, and i'm sure its the same on the 750. I'm not sure about the 1k but i understand that the chart is for the 07 1k but the information is wrong.

I correct myself.. the 08 600's ARE different than the 750's but your information is still wrong and you should edit that the 08 600 is in fact DIFFERENT. Not that any of this is super important but i just thought i'd point it out.

I've had my gixxer 1K approx 4 months now. Before I rode it off of the lot I asked that it be set in A mode and so it was. My question is, how do you know if it is set in A B or C mode. The indicator on my bike shows the A B and C modes to the right of the RPM gauge but that is it. As I switch trough the modes there are no arrows or highlighted indicators. Unfortunately my manual flew out of my backpack on the first ride home ( I was a little excited). In short, how do I know what mode I am in and can I switch through the modes while riding ?

No , it does not tell me what mode I am in. As I rode home yesterday I flicked through the modes and neither felt a difference or saw any change in the instrument display. Should the display at least show the A B & C letters ? Mine is just a blank three squares. Perhaps I have a faulty cluster on my bike.... ?

^^ Yes, your DMI should tell you what Mode you are in. It should not be blank. If you are changing the Mode while riding and it fails to change the display should blink. The Owner's Manual instructs you to turn the bike off (In order to reset the Drive Mode) and start over again.



JK750 is correct about the power output in A, B and C Modes. The "B" Mode ONLY applies to lower throttle settings. At higher throttle settings it is the same as "A" Mode. (Although I believe the power in "B" Mode comes on as strong as "A" Mode much sooner than WOT.)

"C" Mode provides softer throttle responses than "B" Mode at all throttle opening range by reducing engine power."

Just for clarification...

The default mode is A. Everytime you kill your bike it will automatically be in "A" when you restart.

When I said that it should show you what mode you are in I was refering to when you are trying to make a different selection outside of the default "A" Mode.

If you just start your bike and ride it without messing with the selector then it will not show you what mode you are in. Just know that you are in "A".

Your correction is duly noted and I will change the opening post to reflect the difference. If there's one thing I can't stand it is incorrect infomation.
The K8+ GSXR600 and Hayabusa DMS mapping is different from the 750/1000 DMS mapping as you described.

For the K8 GSXR 600 and K8 Hayabusa:

A mode is full power

B mode is less power than A at all rpm and throttle

C mode is less power than B at all rpm and throttle.



The 750 and 1000 DMS settings are as previously described in this thread.
