Are you serious? A turbo on a Katana?

A custom turbo kit is going to cost at least $4,000. If you need more power, sell that Katana and buy a GSXR 600.

Currently riding a '05 GSXR 1000 ~ Full Tit. Akrapovic, PowerCommander, Schnitz Racing Custom map = 166horse. Suspension by Thermosman Suspension ~ Ohlins internals on forks, Hyperco rear spring

No offense but, save your money and upgrade your bike. The pistons in your Katana won't take much pressure. A GSXR-1K doesn't take much to throw a rod or shatter a piston. Anything is possible but, very foolish to do on that motor. You would spend more on motor mods and custom motor parts than buying a new bike because no one makes parts for Katana's. There is a reason why companies don't make them.

the point is i dont want a gixxer everyone has one and i like how the katana looks if i wanted to be like 1000's of other people i would get a gsx-r 1000
no offence but i like to be different i dont really care if it costs upwards of 10k cause i went to vegas last weekend and won 15k spent 5k on the bike i just wanted to know what the options are i have had a bike for a long time but only ever put mods on my cars "cause they need them" but the katana lacks a little in its nut sack and i want to "WOW" people with it

If you want to "wow" people with it:

The motor from an air cooled gsxr 1100 is a direct bolt-in swap.

You're talking like 140hp and over twice the torque you have at this point.

THAT is a swap worth doing. A used 1100 engine is a bit hard to come by, but you can get one for about 800-1000 bucks.

And if you want to turbo something, a Triumph speed triple or Daytona 955i is the thing to do it to. It's like the motors were designed for it.

mmmm.... turbo speed triple....

Check out katriders.com, a few people have done the 1100 swap. The katana 1100 and bandit 1200 engines also fit, but they don't have as much power as the gsxr 1100 one does.

I commend you on that. Truthfully though, IMHO consider the motor swap then do a turbo kit. The stock Katana motor will just come up short. Ideally you want a built motor with the works. What I mean by that is that you would have invested upwards of 5k+ only to have a much slower bike than a 1000 and up. I just want to see you get the upper hand after going so deep in the pocket. Another thing to look at is hopefully you get to take a ride on a similar bike with the mods that you want. If you don't syhte yourself after the ride then it wasn't worth it. Consider cost per whp in the matter. Have the shop do a dyno run before the mods then after. Another thing to look at is that turbo's on 600's don't spool very quickly compared to a bigger motor for obvious reasons. Do you want a bike that doesn't come alive until 10k+? Consider that. Regardless, I'm sure that you have sat down and thought about this. Just remember just because it has a turbo doesn't mean that it will be fast. Fast, cheap, reliable.... pick two because you won't get all three.
