1997 katana 750 help!!!!
Wanting to know what all things that I could take off a gsxr 750 that would add hp????? I know about the camshafts already but was wondering how much of a difference that would make?? Is it worth it?? And anything that I could take off of one that would help or anything in general I could do to make more hp in general...

GSX-R intake camshaft, use your current intake camshaft for the exhaust, 5° timing advance and that's about it. You can also add the GSX-R CDI for more aggressive ignition timing and GSX-R carbs, but...
The worst part about the Katana is the suspension, so I'd start there.
The ultimate power mod in a Katana is swapping in a Bandit 1200 engine.

ok, in all seriousness now.
before you start throwing cams and carbs around, do maintenance.
check your air filter, spark plugs, compression, valve clearance, and carb tune. get all of that up to spec then look at the rest of the bike.
chain, sprockets, suspension, steering bearing, brakes ect...ect...
get a manual and go threw the entire maintenance section.
see where that gets you.
now ask yourself how much time, blood, effort, sweat and money are you willing to put in.
keep in mind that if you are new to wrenching (you sound like you are) you will take considerably more time than flat rate to do a task. you do not have the tools, experience, or skill.
would your time, money, and effort be better spent earning money to buy a bigger, better, faster, more bike.
Still want to mod your katana? Good, get started.

sounds like it would be a hell of a lot easier to sell it and buy a real gsx-r

A early 2000 model gsxr would be much cheaper and less of a head ache.

Actually... yes.
No matter how much money you dump into a Katana, in the end, it's still a heavy steel framed Katana. The only real reason to own a Katana is the price or some aversion to liquid cooled engines.
