Default Differences in the 998 models?

Can someone please point me in the direction of the differences in the 998 models? I understand that there are (forgive me if I don't have this right) the F, SE & Factory. Perhaps even others.

Whatever help someone can provide is sure appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad

Thanks! That's helpful.

What I'm looking for is something that lays out what the differences in the models is. While we're at it, I'm also trying to wrap my head around the differences in the 916, 966, 996 & 998.

Thanks again,
Brad

No 966. Just 916, 996, and 998. Here's something I just dug up: http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Articl...x?ArticleID=36

Thanks for that. It seems that the 998 benefits from that Testastretta motor. If I understand correctly, the 916, 966 & 996 did not have that.

Thanks again,
Brad

Brad, the 998 had the testatretta motor, which meant shower top injectors where as the other models had a Desmoquattro motor which is a different injector design.

Thanks for that information. Does the Testastretta motor offer significantly higher performance?

it depends on how you build the bike but stock for stock the testa. motor is only a few HP mores than the Desmo. motor but its more effecient.

I think it also has the newer wiring system and from what I have heard it is MUCH better then the old. In my opnion I would get a 999 over the older style if the funds are there for it. The 998/916 bikes look cool as hell but not as close in performance as the 749/999 bikes.
