Default Fun winter projects...

Any of you guys have big plans for your bike this winter??? I just did a pretty complete full service myself. I ordered the full 749 service manual(same one the Ducati service guys use) from a guy on eBay(manualmania) and it is awesome: NGK Iridium plugs(CR9EIK, AGIP 20W-50 oil & filter, new high flow air filters&cleaned the intake runners completely, replaced stock chain and sprocket for an AFAM/DID ERV3 520 conversion(14/43), replaced my rear shock with an Ohlin's 301 full race unit and added the Ohlin's Superbike valve kit to the Showa forks(unfortunately this didn't add much better feel or response in my opinion-a waste of $325 to me!!), checked valve clearances and tightened the timing belt. Cosmetically I added Gilles rearsets in black, CRG levers in titanium, a Fast by Ferracci billet quick-action fuel cap in black, a full vented clutch cover from Pro Italia in black, carbon fiber heat shield for the right exhaust pipe and black frame plugs. The bike already had a custom rear cowl and a Termi 50mm titanium exhaust, so I also added a custom mapped PCIII from Fast by Ferracci. I will post pics tonite. Man I cannot wait for spring!!!!........................

One more pic... I think I am probably done with modifications as the owner of this bike. My biggest mod was this fall putting a 2004 749R motor in this bike. I had a stroke of luck through my father in law(owns a salvage yard) and his insurance people. A wrecked R came in with a pristine motor. Only 1700 miles, so it was a no brainer. I still have the my original motor with only 2200 miles on it if yourself or anyone you know need a good motor cheap. Can't say the motor was like "holy shit what a monster!!!", but it definitely runs with more authority than the base motor. The biggest performance difference was re-gearing(14/43 vs. stock 14/39) and then the Termi exhaust with PCIII.

I got the rearsets(they are Gilles) from hardracing.com and the frameplugs from eBay.

I gotta say that is one fine lookin' duc. Pure sex on wheels.
A buddy of mine is looking into an 06 monster, so we have been looking around. You been to Ferracci, have you checked out martinelli euorosports uo in Coopersberg yet/at all? Nice new shop. Very friendly. They have some Ducs there that are amazing.

How do you like the Ohlins shock compared to stock? I have a 749s and was thinking about doing that mod. I can get a good deal on an Ohlins shock off of a 999R. Can you give us a description of how this changed the bike?

BTW, thanks for the tip on the UES fork kit. I was thinking about doing that because Section 8 Superbikes says it's a big upgrade.
