You really have to love Ducati's to own one , they are more expensive to buy and maintain in regards to both routine maintenance and unexpected reliability issues.Plus , the dealership network is small which usually means alot of traveling for service.
Just like everything else , people have thier opinions. Some say Ducati's are reliable , some say they aren't .
Personally , I have owned 2 Ducati's and these are my experiences:
2004 999 that blew up at 2400 miles but Ducati stood by me and made it right ..... gained a loyal customer
2005 999 that has been in the shop for a month for a base gasket leak, still waiting on parts.
Meanwhile , I have owned about 20 other bikes that were all Japanese and NEVER has one of them blown up or been in the shop for repairs.
I love my Ducati so I am dealing with the quirks but I can assure you they aren't for the faint of heart ......... they are like high maintenance women always demanding your time, money and attention.
