Is the Shawk your first twin?
I was wondering if the Shawk was your first V-twin powered bike. (Okay, in actuality, I was tired of seeing my damn post up for months! )
If not, what was your previous bike and would you ever go back to inline-4's, if you don't already own one?
For me, my first bike was an '04 Yamaha FZ6. Sold it to a friend and got a Five-One. Then, someone thought it was theirs ( alzhiemers? ) so now I have the Shawk. I guess you can call me a fast learner, but I've been on two wheels since I was a little booger. I may get an inline again someday, but that's just as a side dish.

Yes. It was also an interesting development for me. I've been riding for over thirty years, learning on an RD400 two stroke and having a number of I-4s over the years.
Around the same time, I traded a Z28 for an S2000, essentially trading a fast car torque monster for an equally fast car rev monster. I like the S, especially the go-kart handling, but miss the instant gratification of the big V8. Both are equally quick and use about the same amount of gas, BTW.
The VTR offers the same instant gratification of the Camaro, not needing to be wound to get going. I'd probably not choose a rev monster instead. My next bike will also offer low end torque, although the I-4s have caught up with max torque.

Very true with the modern I-4's having power on tap. The FZ6 had me waiting for the powerband and being sort of impatient, I needed that instant power gratification. The answer was, without a doubt, in a v-twin sportbike.
A friend of mine has a K5 Gixxer and he says there is power everywhere, and I believe him. I wouldn't mind taking one for a test ride to feel it out. But the sound and rumble of the twin just can't be beat. My old Five-One would sound like a Blackhawk helicopter and I miss that the most. Along with the whirl of the gear-driven cams.

I started out on an F2. The SH was my next bike. Loved the torque, hated the weight. Bought a GSXR750K5. Love the light weight. Bought an 06 Duc Sport1000. Love the torque. Must sell something soon, wife glowering at me.
